Since I had to bail and come home today (damn work getting in the way of riding again), I'll post the few pictures that I took along the way.
Heading out from Jim's Saturday morning, heading towards the Bay Bridge in the overcast...
-
On the Bay Bridge (San Fran in the background)
-
Heading our of San Fran on the Golden Gate
-
Trying to keep a dozen or so bikes together through SF is all but impossible so we got split up. Unfortunately, half the group stopped at the Vista Point just after the Golden Gate, the other half didn't. Can you guess which group Mike and I were in? ;D
-
Heading up the road...
-
Along the coast north of Bodega Bay (yes it was chilly along the coast)
-
Sunday breakfast
-
Riding through the hills...
-
Avenue of the Giants
-
On the side of the road fixing Jonga's throttle cable. I don't know what's up with that boy, every time he rides with us his air cleaner ends up off (for those of you who remember Cripple Creek)
-
Jim in a small little tree...

From left to right: Jim, Andy, Steve D, me, Fred, and JC

Tell me that Andy doesn't look GOOD on his new SERG! Picked it up Friday afternoon, and took it on the trip on Saturday!

Andy looks fab on that bike! I think I like it better than the orange & black! The pics are great too, Ernie! Thanks so much for posting them. I regretted backing out of that trap about 10 seconds after I cancelled. I think I'll regret it for years to come. I know all had a great time. Glad to see JC didn't try to climb up into the tree too! All he needs is another trip to the ER while on vacation! See you in the Spring with Miker and Lisa!
-
Thank you JC & Terri for putting this trip together! As always, your rides are well planned, on great roads, and have interesting places to stop along the way. Thanks to everyone else that attended for making it such a great time! You guys have a great second half of the tour and say hi to the others that are joining you.

Gary,
That's one of the great things about CA. Along the coast it'll be 50's, 20 miles inland it'll be in the 80's or 90's! There are a lot of different microclimates here.

-
Hi everyone, I also want to thank JC for the great ride he put together....as he always does. Just wish I was still with the group. I also have work calling me for tomorrow. Ernie and Jim thanks for all the great pictures. Also want to thank Mike, Sid and Jim for the quickest throttle repair I could have only hoped for. Also need to thank JC for the use of his tools..... since I thought I didn't need mine since I was only going to be gone 2 1/2 days...... yea, right. Great to see everyone and really enjoyed myself. Have to coment on Andys new SERG......Sweeet. I liked that color combo more and more as I looked at it. That silver just comes alive.... Looking forward to next get together and getting to know everyone a little better. Have a safe and fun rest of the ride, wish I was there.....Jon
-
Met up with JC, Rooster and what is left of the group (4 bikes) tonight in Reno. JC's laptop died so he hasen't been able to share what he has so far. We will be riding through Tahoe, Yosemite, and some beautiful country tomorrow. Hope we don't crash the site with all the pictures!
Damn! Andy's bike looks great! Can't wait to see Don's as well.
P.S. Andy, the phone number you gave JC was the Chevron Station we met at a few weeks ago :drink:
P.S. #2 JC's condo is just too cute!

great pic's, wish i could have made the trip, watching you guys is like i'm almost there...... :2vrolijk_21:,, ak nice bike dude, congrates
The first thing I asked Dave is "where's Marty?". Wish you could have joined us.
We're having a great time. We're at the National Hotel in Jamestown tonight. I think Don and Soozie are supposed to hook up with us here. Tomorrow is Yosemite......lookin forward to that.
I promised I wouldn't play too hard but one of the highlights for me was the ride with Sid and Mike for the 44 mile twisties from Ft. Brag to Willits. There's not a straight section more than 100 ft. long for the full 44 miles. Constant twisties with floorboards scrappin on both sides the whole way with speeds from 20 to 45 mphs. About 2/3 of our trip has been two lane mountain roads from sea level to 9,000 + feet.
Just having a great time, but wish the rest of the crew was still with us. We're having a blast with Terry and Karen (Rooster and Mrs. Rooster), Dave (Wrongway) and Donna, Steve (SMD) and Yolanda and Moto-Michael.
We did spend a couple of hours at Freedom Cycles this morning. Brad took all the guys in the back and showed us all the research that he's working on for the 09's. By the way, a tip that he offered.....one of his 09 research bikes that only has 250 miles on it....the wiring harness that runs along the frame under the exhaust bracket apparently has vibrated against the exhaust bracket just enough to melt through the wiring harness jacket. He's brought it to Harley's attention but suggests that everybody with an 09 zip tie their wireing to the frame fright by the exhaust bracket near the tranny.
He went on to explain that the reason that bracket gets so hot is because the stock exhaust has a catalytic converter inside the exhaust right by the bracket.
Oh, and I certainly owe Brad a note of gratitude for pulling my bike in and washing it up (I made the mistake of parking under a tree yesterday that was dripping tree sap) for me this morning.
We have many, many photos however, the mother board of my lap top fried up in the redwoods. Those photos will be posted at a later date.
-
The 09 serg is a real looker. It blew me away when i saw it in person. From the photos before seeing it first hand i thought it was 3 tone silver, in person it has a tope color that sets off the color combo....I pick up the bike in santa cruz friday about 4pm. Ernie thanks for the ride over the hill for the pick-up. Went over to sids took off the stock shield and sid lent me a 10 incher better than stock but not by much.. Had a late dinner JC and Terrie spent the night and we hit the road saturday morning.. had a 1000 miles on the bike by monday afternoon... The wind and handle bars beat me up bad, i was hurting big time ,traded bike with ernie for an hour just to get a break from the pain.. I love the bike but the stock set up won,t work for me.. I,ve got Jim lined up to correct all my complaints. handle bars, windshield fix, back rest, freeway pegs should do it... I,m hooking back up with you guy on thursday at hurst castle and sorry i,ll be on my seeg- AK
-
But Andy what about our Race to see which one is faster, the Orange or the Silver?? Now we'll never know :huepfenlol2: The highway pegs are a must, Jim installed already, the seat was a big help, and the KW8" for me helped also but isn't the total answer, the handle bars?? we'll see you thursday!
-
Great pics, it loks like a good time. Damn AK as good as that bike looks I would of never guessed it would beat you so bad.
Good luck with the mods.
KEEP THE PICS COMING!!!!!
Be Safe
THE DAWG

The 09 serg is a real looker. It blew me away when i saw it in person.
AK,
Nice addition to the stable...congrats!
-
It's J.C. and I'm on Rooster's lap top.
We're in Fresno. Had a great time in Yosemite today but one of our highlights for the trip was our waitress at dinner last night at the National Hotel in Jamestown. She was definately entertaining!
No tickets so far.....so we're all doing good. We've put over 1,500 miles on the clock and most of it in the mountains doin twisties and altitudes up and down.
My back tire is now bald, so I'm going to the dealership in the AM to get a tire thrown on. We may be just a tad late gettin over to San Simeon tomorrow.........but we've been known to make up for lost time.
-
OK! We are safely home from a GREAT time with 100% GREAT people. JC, all I can say is THANK YOU! Just to wet the appetite a little I have a couple pictures available. Many more to come, but I will start at the end, the WRONGWAY!
Here is Lil-Bit about 60 miles east of Santa Maria, her poll dancing was of legion this week! About 90 miles from home here.
-
Here is our next stop, Pine Mountain, 90 miles east of Santa Maria, 55 miles to home.
-
Home at last! Lil-Bit hates that seat!

-
Michael, good to ride with you again. Looking forward to next time.
-
Great pics Dave. Well a little over 2600 miles on this trip for us, We stopped in Willows Ca for the night. Went to the room and found it was in the middle of a remodel, no carpet, no bed, no floor. Had to go get another. HEHEHE. Another 480 miles tommorrow and we will be back at home. Had the most awsome time with everyone. Many thanks to JC and Terri for all the planning and work done to pull this off. Will post some pics when we get back home.
-
Terry and Karen
-
Hope you had a laugh about another room swap :P
Seen enough of that for a lifetime this week.
-
I was sitting on the bike as Karen went in the room and said this won't work. I said what now? She had me come and look, all I could do was laugh and she took pics which we will post when we get home. Ha Ha, you know it's all good just another laugh to share and remember.
-
I think I took the prize on the room swap.......at the Super 8 in Fresno. They lost my reservation......then they send us to a "non smoking" room that somebody had heavily smoked in.....then sent us to another room that the A/C wasn't working in.....before we finally got a decent room.
But, all in all it was a great ride with great people. We put a little over 2,000 miles on the bike this week. Terrie just finished resizing all the photos at once so I can post now.

Thanks, great to meet the both of you and we will see you next July. We would have been home earlier but our Awsome tour guides took us to lunch and a couple of Very COOL places before we said goodbye for now, so we didn't go as far as planned yesterday. It was all worth it, I just wish everyone else could have enjoyed the colorful waitress we had.

Told JC the same thing! I would ride with you anytime! I like the way he rides and leads. I have a weakness, speed. Twist the throttle and fly, 90+ don't bother me or Lil-Bit.

Those of you that were at the end of the ride found out Karen had some issues with sheets and showers, WELL this was our last room in Willows. She came out and said this won't work, my 1st thought was not again she made me come look at it then I had to agree. ;D
went back to the desk and showed the picture to her. She gave us a new room. We had some good laughs over dinner.

It did seem like we were eating a lot although no more than three times a day and some days only two times. But I think I gained ten pounds on that trip.

Everywhere we ate was great. Just showed how much work JC put into planning this trip. We are so glad we were able to attend. It was the trip of a lifetime for us. Thank you once again. We spent most of the ride in the back but at the end we got to ride behind JC and Andy and we were very comfortable as they both ride very smooth.

Been with many groups over the years, sometimes you just don't like how some people ride, too close, too far behind, no formation, etc. JC and Andy are the perfect riding partners! You know what they will be doing before they do it, and that kept us safe and without citations in all those miles we logged. I cannot say thanks enough to everyone we rode with this week. :2vrolijk_20: :2vrolijk_20:     :1syellow1: :1syellow1: :givemebeer: :givemebeer: :givemebeer: :drummer: :drummer: :multi: :multi:

They did live there, along with the elephants, giraffes, deer, elk, lions, bears and a number of other wild life. Hearst had the largest private zoo in the world.....larger than most major city zoos.
