My yellow FB SE is in the paint shop so I can finish what HD started. I think the black FB SE is just fine as is but the yellow which I can live with as is and the grey/blue could use some refinement. Not much but just a little. So I took it over to a guy that has painted two bikes for me and asked him to use his judgement and do his thing. He called today and asked me to stop by and see if I wanted anything different than what he had already done, if not he was going to put the clear coat on. I wasn't prepared for the "TOTAL" transformation I was about to see. WOW! I should pick it up Wednesday and if I can get my son to do the posting for me, I should have pictures by weeks end. Just a slight preview. He added a black/quartz stripe down the tank console pinstriped in red. He circled the tank medallion in yellow, red and black. Now, when he told me he was going to paint the little bumps going down each side of the tank console black with another red pinstripe, I got real worried he was going overboard. When I saw it tonight I couldn't believe how much it added to the tank. Moving to both side covers, He added the same type of black design to them and down in the bottom left quadrant of the battery box he airbrushed a picture of the well known SE decal. In 3-D no less. Same on the left side. Oh, back to the tank console for a second. I forgot to mention he scripted the word "Screaming eagle" in white, just above the medallion. Lastly he is going to etch the horn cover with the HD bar and shield logo and also etch in the words screaming eagle below it. I think most are going to say this is the way it should have come from the factory.

Hey guys, did you read the part of my post that said I don't have the bike back yet and the painter isn't quite finished and I would try to get pictures up by "Weeks end"? I am however happy to see your impatience as it shows you are interested. Also, when I get the bike back I will take pictures right away but have to wait for my son to set up a page for the bike. I'm just to dumb to do it. He runs a business and I am at his mercy. However, if some one wants to volunteer to post the pictures for me, I do have enough smarts (just barely) to email pictures individually. Again, I should have bike and pictures by Wednesday. Volunteers please?

Painter called and said the bike is done. I'll pick it up tonight and take some pictures. My son will make a little web page of the bike and I'll post it as soon as it's done. Should be up by week's end maybe sooner. Hey bunkerbeer, as you have the same color bike I can email you some pictures tomorrow unless you want to wait. If you want them just give me an email address to send them to.
Gary

Indeed I did pick the bike up and and saw the finished product.
Using the new Joe Biden arithmetic I have only TWO things to say.....Oh!........My!........God!

upload the pics to the computer and add the pics in here where the attach: is printed in bold letters. Click choose file and then browse and find the picture and then click post.

One reason for no pictures yet is that I just got the bike back yesterday. However I did take pictures today. Interestingly, I put the camera in my jacket pocket and as I fired the bike up and started towards the garage, the camera fell out of my pocket and I ran over it. It is history. However the wife and I went shopping for another camera tonight and bought one. We slipped the card out of the old camera and in to the new one. Anyway, I sent the pictures to my son and asked him to let me know when he can do the internet "thing" for me. I'll post as soon as he's done. In the mean time, Mike D, this may be easy for you but it's Greek to me. I do know how to send them individually. So if you want to volunteer to post them, I can whip them right out to you. If you are interested just send me an email address where I can send pics to. Otherwise I'll have to wait for the young'in to come thru.

Gary, I can help you out no problem. mfd704@yahoo.com :2vrolijk_21:
I'd be happy to. Sorry if my message was too sarcastic, I've been told that I'm the only one that gets my humor! :nixweiss:
-
I didn't think you were being sarcastic Mike. I take everything as being good natured kidding. My son called today and said the pictures should be ready to post tonight but I haven't heard from him yet. In the mean time I am sending you the pictures. If you want to post them, feel free. If not at least give me your opinion. I should have them up tomorrow sometime. I assume you know the paint scheme on the SE Fat Bob. So you will know, the tank console from the factory was solid yellow as were both side covers. I loved this bike from the beginning but that console and side covers were the biggest chuncks of yellow I've ever seen. The effect in person of the new paint is even more dramatic. Anyway they are on the way.
Thanks,
Gary

Chris Layne is the painter. He lives in the Shenandoah valley near Winchester Va. This guy is also a tremendous fabricator. His work is second to none. In my case he has already custom painted two other bikes for me and I have a small business with 9 trucks and he does the lettering on them for me. I give him a lot of business. So he returned the favor on the bike. I paid $575. Now you new it wouldn't be cheap, right. He said if anyone asked he would not do it again for that price. I doubt however it would be much more but I don't know for sure. Everything is painted except for the rear fender. I didn't ask him to do anything on it because I new he would have to remove it and then re clear it. So he made a SE decal and stuck it on there so I could see what it looks like. Rub you hands all over his work and you can't feel even the slightest rise or bump. Just to show you what this guy can do. He took a new Corvette convertible, disassembled all the body panels and installed new wide body panels. The real trick was the unbelievable fabrication to make them fit as the panels were desisned for a coupe.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!! looks awesome Willie G should hire your guy to help with next years designs :2vrolijk_21:

Fantastic! And I've yet to see any picture that does justice to the actual. Way to go.
-
the new hightlights really bring out the paint work,
-
We have all seen too many CVo bikes too much added paint to them. This is done tastefully IMO and the painter was right on with all the SE painted scripts.
-
That is one hell of a great looking bike! IMHO
-
I can understand why his camera committed suicide, it probably could not do justice to processing the color. Nice scooter dude. :bananarock:
-
Cool! Its really hard to capture the paint with a camera but you've done it. I know it looks even better in person. Great job... Great look for the SE Fat Bob... Congrats enjoy the ride
-
Gary great looking bike I really like that you made an original :drink: :drink:

Or page 2 or here http://garysbikes.wordpress.com/ Even though this bike is for sale (See the classifieds) I have no regrets about the bike or the color. Just the fact it creates discussion is proof of it's uniqueness. Maybe your friends simply has buyers remorse. I'm sure each of us FB owners thinks their color is the best looking. I like all of them. This past weekend I visited a friend who had a friend of his visiting. His friend just bought a black SE FB. When he saw mine he said a friend talked him out of the yellow and having seen mine he wished he had stayed with his initial opinion. BTW, he bought it at Waugh's in Orange, Va.. Said they had 6, two of each color. $26,300 out the door. That included the SE mufflers, computer (he didn't know which one) and a leather jacket. Sounds like a good deal if anyone is interested, though not as good a deal as mine.

It looks awesome now. Good effort!
-
Looks Great! Don't forget the chrome hardware and caps......that will make a huge difference as well.....ALSO....Install Red Fat wires to highlight the red striping and paint!
-
Even as I try to sell I know it isn't likely. But I will add this and that as long as I own it. Anything I buy is a constant work in progress. I never stop tinkering. I also like the cap kit and will likely buy it next Friday (3rd Friday = 20% off). Since I put the for sale sign on it, I have added the Sundowner seat, quick disconnect windshield and sissy bar with luggage rack. I never said I was very bright.
