Well.
after having the "product enhancement" gaskets done 4 times and the dealer swapping the rear cylinder to the front, and a new cylinder installed on the front (because it wouldn't stop weeping oil from the cylinder base) and it STILL weeps oil from the front cylinder base!
HD is going to replace my motor! WhooHoo! :2vrolijk_21:
I'm really happy about that! :bananarock:

I am happy for you but it is a shame it had to go this far!!!! I bet the new motor will be good to go!

I know it has been a long road for you! Congratulations of finally getting some satisfaction. I hope the new motor is problem free!
-
I'm happy for you that they're replacing your motor rather than continue to band-aide it.
Are they going to keep the same VIN number? They did when they replaced my frame due to an accident. That prevents the hassel with the motor vehicle dept. and in the case of Calif., the CHP.
-
Glad to hear the MoCo is finally doing the right thing. Here's to a problem free next 100K miles.
-
Thanks!
I'm just hoping the next 6300 miles are as trouble free as the first 5000 miles!
because that's when my 110 started to leak............. @ 5000 miles........ :P
-
Patience is a virtue, and I'm glad it finally paid off, but man, what a long road you traveled. Brand new motor in your '07, perfect!!! Just for my info, did you have any modifications to your ride, (pipes, AC, tuner, etc) and were they an issue with the MOCO rep and the warranty?
Enjoy and Good Luck in the future!

Very curious on your exact journey through the egg shells, Did you push for the replacement or was it from their camp? I think this post will be viewed by many and some frustrated 07 friends will travel this trail well in the future thanks for the info and congrats!!

the front cylinder replacement was the fourth time the bike was in the shop.
after the front cylinder was replaced and it was still weeping oil, I requested that HD replace the motor.
I spoke to a few other owners that I ran into at the dealership, and one had his motor replaced after the first
"enhancement" gaskets were still leaking.
it seems to be hit or miss if the gaskets will fix the problem, and I believe HD is aware that if it still leaks after the gaskets are
replaced, then there's really nothing else to do except replace the motor......
In my case, the front cylinder would not stop weeping oil.......and in my opinion, replacing the motor was the only option. :2vrolijk_21:
-
How bad was the front cylinder weeping at the base? I too had that problem after the enhancement - very slight weeping. Never, ever leaked at the base before that. Replaced gaskets a second time and then replaced front cylinder. So far, so good after a couple thou on it. Hope it holds.
-
it's always been a slight weep.
first from the rear cylinder, then from the front cylinder (after they moved the rear cylinder to the front, then replaced the front cylinder).
it never stopped........
started around 5k miles, the head gaskets started leaking before 5k, I just didn't notice until the rear cylinder started weeping oil.......
-
Nice to see they are going to right the situation. Hope all is well from here on out.

I have to say that is the most mickey mouse thing I've heard since they put two orings insterad of one to fix a leak, or maybe it was the same color dye in all three holes to find the oil leak?
Good luck with the new motor. My new motor had alreday leaked and had the enhancement done.

That is GOOD NEWS!
I am going to the dealers tomorrow and have a talk with the service dept and the owners.
Hope to have news about a new leakfree motor soon.
:nervous:
-
Jerdawg,
this new motor was supposed to be built with all of the '09 specs......
it should be as reliable and leak free as any '09 110.... time will tell.....

Exactly thats what i meant. We have had no problems with the silver.

You are very lucky, I just came from the local dealer where there are three 110's sitting on lifts all waiting on the outcome of the fights the dealer is in with MoCo about replacing these motors. They all have been "fixed" at least 3 times already, one has had the "fix" 5 times. :o
-
Well my dealer went through a problem with moco about boring cyl's to fix out of round and tappered. Now I have waited for 3 months for recall parts and summer is here so they fixed acr's and I will wait till next winter.Last year they put a new crank, new cly's .010 over, and a valve job I had a lil weeping at first after 1000 miles it quit and now 12,000 miles no problems waiting for upgrade parts. Good luck jdo

Looks like we both had to take them in 4 to 5 times before they replaced our engines.
Got the call today they are sending the new 110 engine today to the dealer, and my 2007 FXSTSSE is in their
service bay as we speak and it is just waiting for the swapout.

just got back from dropping mine off.....
I saw the new motor and it's pretty! :bananarock:

I think we will be ok with them since they are the 110B engines.
I will take my camera when the new one arrives here in Arizona.
Looking forward to seeing your pictures.

Then I will check everything when I get back.
Picture is Friday at the dealers (I live 60 miles away, so I had to trailer it home)
