Title: crazy tach
Post by: popper on April 19, 2009, 10:44:11 PM
I had a problem with my tach on my 2008 FLHRSE4. While I was riding, the RPM would suddenly drop to about half of what it should be. Not the actual engine speed, just the reading on the tach. I told my dealer about this and they did some tests. They could not find anything wrong. I rode some more and it would happen again and again. I did find out that if I pulled over and shut the bike down and then restarted, the tach would read normal for a while. Nothing else seemed to be affected. The dealer recently replaced the tach and I have been doing some riding this Spring. Now, The new tach is doing the same thing. Has anyone else had this happen to them? If so, has anyone found the problem and a solution? Thanks.

Check the battery connections, make sure the battery is not starting to go. Had similar condition, however the power would also cut on and off. Cure new battery. won't hurt anything to check battery.
