Title: Fairing trim
Post by: LarryB on May 24, 2009, 01:43:20 PM
that black rubber piece of crap they use for edge trim started coming off my bike. was flapping in the breeze last week. I've been contemplating doing this for some time, but this put me over the edge.
I went to several of the chain auto parts stores and looked for a chrome trim to replace with. There are several different styles. I found the one that seemed to be a good fit, at O'Reilly's.
Install was ez and I ran it a little longer on top to tuck behind my chrome windshield trim. After I put it on I ran a heat gun a low to soften up and tapped it tighter with a rubber mallet.
Put the fairing back on and Viola'!
what do you think,,,,,,,,,,,,,,like you weren't gonna tell me  :huepfenlol2: anyway

That door edge molding comes in different sizes.  Remember what thickness that was?

no I don't and already pitched the package, but it's thin. thats why I used the heat gun, to SET it.

Larry, that looks nice on the silver but I wouldn't like it on my orange.  I haven't had that issue but just have 1k miles on it so far.  Thanks for the pics too - nice to see different options if there are corrections to be made to MOCOs designs...

I agree, the chrome works better on the silver, not the orange or yellow. I wouldn't have done it if it weren't for the OEM coming off. I wonder what chrome curb feelers would look like, or maybe some AVON Gangster white walls. Maybe Knothead can tell us because I'm sure he's got his scoot hooded out.  :2vrolijk_21:

Maybe this will give you some new ideas LarryB....your spending too much time in the hood on that gray primer SERG..
