Post by: JCZ on March 16, 2004, 10:18:45 PM
HD is going to be coming out with highway pegs for the Stealth Collection soon.  That's the name of the colletion of brake, shifter pegs, floor boards, etc. that come on the SEEG.

Has anyone with hi-way pegs thought about putting a "door edge guard" on the outer  edge of their lower fairings...the u-channel type...I am not sure how well this will work, but I hit that too many times...once being too many.

Something like this...

WFP, good thought.  I try to be real deliberate when moving my feet to/from the highway pegs so as not to bang anything, but something like this might save me in a forgetful moment (seem to be having more of those now than ever [smiley=confused5.gif]).  Where would you start and end it, though?  I nominate you to try it out and post some pics for the rest of us. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

P.S. Thanks for the reply to my PM.

Anyone having any problems with the floorboards...?

My right rider floorboard chrome is starting to crinkle next to the rubber strips.  Oddly, the left is not doing it.  I thought it might have been salt contamination, but it should do it on both I would think.

That's great news.  I will just wait a few weeks/months till they are out.  I have my bike scheduled to be delivered April 14th  :-)

WFP,
Have you tried putting the door edge molding on your lowers yet?  I noticed that I hit the lowers a lot when I go to put my feet on my highway pegs.  If you did can you post some photos.

Thanks

To be honest, I forgot about this mod.  No, I have not done it yet.  Maybe I will stop at autozone and see what they have.  I cna picture some type of self adhesive black u-channel design...I don't think I want the cheap chome plus it "should" be more flexible.

I found some black u-channel molding and will try to cut some and put it on tonight after I pick the Bike up from the dealer.

The stuff is not adhesive-backed just friction so I do not know how well it will hold...I may add something to give it a little grip if needed.

It looks like it will be easy to cut to feather it in to the bottom of the fairing.

It does have a "gummy" fill inside, not really adhesive but more like cured glue...

WFP,
Thanks for posting the picture.

I have yet to ride with it but it feels pretty snug after the installation.  I started to install it initially but removed it and it came off completely but not easily.

I would be less concerned about wind and more about the boots grabbing and pulling it.

Rode about 100 miles today with the new lower fairing edge guards...so far so good.  No movement and no worries about chipping the paint!

I may try to use a whole piece to see what it looks like if it comes over the top of the fairing instead of ending abruptly.

Anyone get the Stealth Highway Pegs yet?  Are they out?  No one at my dealer seems to know anything.
