The bike looks black, but when you look at the inner fairing its black with red flakes that really pop out at you, and if you look close at the pic where I out lined it , you see a line that runs up the fairing where the color is the same on the innering fairing but does not match the outter fairing..  I guess what I am saying is the bike looks great but when you really look at it, you can see the flaws.    I will wait and see what the dealer has to say, anyone with paint problems should post them here, so the new guys know what to look for.....

In the image in reply #5 there is a distinct difference between the bright sharp black on the saddlebag lid and the almost gray appearance (in comparison) of the black on the bag itself.  The same black/gray comparison is very apparent in that last inner and outer fairing photo with the circle drawn in it.

I think its hard to tell also, at night with a light you can pick some things up better, I remember seeing  the blk and green , that really looked bad, I think mine looks great but it really has a couple of flaws, just wanted some input and to help the others out there waiting to pick up there bikes,

if you look close you can see the crisp inner and the dull outer, not the best pic

Maybe I am jut too picky for my 40 grand. In pic 004 (I think it is the 6th pic in the series)...the saddle bags. Look at the lid, and the bag itself. They are two different colors....they are not supposed to be. That is the problem I have with my bike. Yours is not as pronounced as mine, but there is a difference.

All in all though, you do have a beautiful bike and you should be very happy with it....I just don't want you or anyone to accept anything but perfection on a CVO.

I hear you and thanks for the good words, I posted the pics so people waiting to get their bikes will know what to look for, the dealer has not looked at it yet, taking it there after the holidays, I was told not to worry so we will see.

What made mine really show up was when when I used a 500 Watt Heavy Duty Halogen work light in a closed garage. The Fluorescent light and the out doors was not nearly as good.

I agree with the above, when I look under light you can really see the milky color, tank, fenders and bags all have a milky haze, what parts have you guys been seeing with problems all or some? My dealer also told me not to worry, I hope its not just to shut me up, but they have been great so far, so I will take their word....... for now :-?

They need to put MOFOCO quality managers, and management from Calibre on a road trip to a multitude of dealerships to see these in person and make it right. Better yet do it right the 1st time. Apparently they haven't learned from the 2002 Brandywine SERK fiasco.  [smiley=confused5.gif]

Just got back from picking up my Black Candy. My bike looks just like the other photos posted here milky saddle bags, front fairing, and tank. Showed it to the dealer and they called Harley. After they finally reached someone they said they would be right on it and call back. The dealer called me on my cell on the way home to say that Harley states its too much clear coat is why it looks that way. He wants me to bring the bike back so they can contract it out to have it buffed down. I wonder if that is the real problem. Or if buffing it will work? I am very thankful of this forum because I would have never known to look for the problem without it.

2up, we've had discussion about the clear coat in this thread: http://flhrsei.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1132326886/81#81.  The problem could very well be the clear coat, but I doubt that it's that there's too much, more like it was a defective batch and/or applied or allowed to cure improperly.  I serioudly doubt that buffing is the answer in this case.

I am going to take the bike to the dealer around the 30th to see what the out come is of the buffing. I will post the results. If anyone has had their bike buffed I am curious to see what their results are. Seems more bikes have the problem than not.

Got my Black & Slate last week, thanks to this site,I looked the bike over & over with two other friends. The paint was perfect with the exception of a minute scratch in the clear on one saddlebag lid.
