Title: 180 Fat tire kit
Post by: maddog110 on November 28, 2009, 08:07:33 PM
Anybody know why the parts book says the 180 kit wont work on a fxdse1&2, but will work on a standard fxd. Whats the difference, and can it be worked around? I know the book says a lot of stuff wont work, but can be made to work if you know how. Any thoughts ?

Quietly, so as not to wake anyone here, I believe it’s a bias vs. radial issue……shhhhhh.  :)

:jalapeno:  ;D   I own an '07 FXDSE  and recently installed a 180 Pirelli Night Dragon without the kit. A finger width of clearance on fender sides and swingarm...I told my buddy after he installed the Harley kit on his identical bike, just days before. Harley allowed him to return the overly expensive kit and his tire fit just fine, a dunlop 440. Hope this helps

So no clearance problems at all Woohoorider? I have the same bike and definitely need to know before I get the 180 nightdragon. I did read some good reviews about this Pirelli tire. Thanks, :2vrolijk_21: Dave

No clearance problems whatsoever, I can only speak for the 180 Night Dragons as the 180 original style Dunlop may be a bit wider. I put a ND on both ends at once and can tell you that the bike turns excellent, (rounder profile, hence no clearance issues also), and too early to tell about wear. It rides less clunky and doesn't follow rain grooves like the Dunlop. Hope this was helpful...ride safe all :cucumber:

Sorry I wasn't clearer. They list different 180 tires in the Night Dragon, 55, 70, 80 etc. Which did you use?

Is anyone aware of any reason this tire ( Pirelli Night Dragon 180) wouldn't work on my '08 ?

I am interested to know specifically which tires you went with front & rear, I want a 180 rear, and have been less than pleased with my factory Dunlops, already time for front too.....

A M21 54H on the front is that the same as the MH90H-21  or 90/90H-21TL those are the only 21in night dragon l see would like to go as wide as possilble
