Title: 03 vs. 04 SED
Post by: smudge on February 19, 2006, 10:09:50 PM
I am considering a 2003 SED with some gentle mods, (chip, pipes, seat) or a 2004 SED (cobalt).

Changes that come to mind, the 04 has a bigger rear tire, gauges were changed and has a hydraulic clutch. Also, 04 has more parts that are painted instead of chrome like the oil tank and rear fender struts. I know of an 03 for sale in the Chicago area..

Yes those are the basic differences. The 03 has the more chrome as stated. both are beautiful. I am partial to my 03 because of the color, chrome and the fact that it is a 100th anniv. bike. that does not mean alot to some but it is important to me good luck you will love either or just get both and put the 03 away. lol Dennis

Don't underestimate the difference the Hydro clutch.  It would be about a grand to change over the '03 to this.  Thinking about it, this is the one thing that really feels different going between the dresser and the Deuce.

I am partial to the 2003, but I don't think you can go wrong with either.  I like that its an anniversary, and love the color scheme.  I went with a lot of black accents to make it a little different than the other 2949 out on the road.

I do have to say, if the bike came with a Hydro clutch, I would take it, but the day I need to worry about pulling the clutch might be the day I start thinking about getting rid of the motorcycle.  C'mon dudes, its not that tough to pull!  We're bikers right???
