Title: Engine Check Light
Post by: yellow103 on July 31, 2010, 08:43:02 PM
After hooking up the cooling fan, my check engine light comes on for about 5 seconds while riding, I noticed it did this 3 times in a row, quit for a while and then did it again, same thing about 5 secinds 3 times and then quits, I checked for codes and got a P1300 on the P setting, I can't find this code in any DTC listing, anybody have any ideas????  At start up everything works as it should.

My search also does not show that code for a Harley, up to and including the DTC listing for 2010.  Are you sure that's the code you're getting?  Are you still running the stock ECM, or maybe an aftermarket part?

The only thing about installing that fan that I can think of that might cause a P (powertrain) code would be if you damaged a plug wire while changing out the engine bracket.  In the automotive world a P1300 is used by some manufacturer's to indicate a random misfire.  :nixweiss:

Intake air temperature sensor, open or high, P0113.  Check the connection and look for any wire damage.

Checked the IAT sensor connection, disconnected and re connected, checked the wiring to the ECM found no issues. Next is to check the voltage readings per the HD manual  :-\. Hoping maybe it;s just a bad sensor. No issues with the bike at all when riding. To be continued.......

Voltage readings fine, wiggle test, fine. Did I mention confused. Called the local Hd Dealer service, asked for a little advise, advise was don't know bring it in, could be many things.

Fingers crossed, unhooked the IAT sensor, hooked it back up, unhooked the ECM, hooked it back up, went for three different rides today, and no code or check engine light. Hmmmm
