Just got back from Laval, HD near Montreal QC., (650 km roundtrip) to see the Frosted/Ivory Vintage/Gold 011 SERG, they just got in. It was worth the drive. I was lucky enough to see both the Rio-Red and the Slate-Grey, in Texas last month, they are nice, but I decided to take a flyer on the Frosted Ivory. I am not at all disappointed, the color combination is great, the Frosted Ivory paint has a faint red fleck in it, looks great in the sunlight, the Vintage Gold has a brownish base to it, which I liked. One thing for sure, this color will draw a crowd, whether it's liked it or not, the comments will fly.

Harley sure seems to have the "presto-change-o" thing down with their paint colors these days. The dark blue pearl looks black till the light hits it. Like the "antique gold" is brown in low light then copper to gold in brighter light. Very cool. Still dunno about the gold on this bike. Guess it could turn out to be one of those love-hate things......

Love the bike, color is not for me. :nixweiss:

thanks for the pics, mine should be here next month

To me, it's the prettiest color I have ever seen! I have a '10 Burnt Amber, think I would like to get a complete set of tins/plastic, get it painted that color and change it off every fall.... Same bike, new skin!!

That's the difference between a "Screamin' Eagle" and a CVO. :nixweiss: :nixweiss:

That's the difference between an SE Road Glide and an SE Road Glide Ultra. This is not a sport version of a Road Glide but more the full-blown, all the whistles and bells touring version. If you notice, none of the MoCo's SE Ultras have had eagles on them.

The first two years of the SERG were "full-blown" for the day and had the Eagle on them :nixweiss: I just think its a shame the MOCO didn't keep this tradition on the 2011 :drink:

The 00, 01 and 09 Screamin Eagle Road Glides have the EAGLE on them from the factory, the 11 doesn't.
No amount of posturing, justifying or explaining will ever change the above statement.
Until Harley produces another Screamin Eagle Road Glide with an actual EAGLE on the fairing those three years will always be unique and special.
And to quote what you said above,
I just think its a shame the MOCO didn't keep this tradition on the 2011 :drink:
I agree Marty.

Would look better and more common sense to have the eagle on the nose, but, It is a very classy bike. I'm sure any RG owner would'nt mind having this one in their stable.
Looks like a "Sunday-Go-To-Church" bike...

Good lookin bike there Beagle!!
I always thought that the Ivory/Tan was never a "Tan Turd"!!!!
Enjoy!!!

So what's your point Chip? All CVOs are unique in their own way; color, amount/type of accessories or lack thereof. My point was the 11 SERGU is specifically identified as an "Ultra". None of the other SERGs were, so there is a difference in model designation and my point was that no Ultras (either EG or RG) to date have had an eagle on them. Eagle on the fairing or not, it's still an SE CVO. I don't really need the Eagle on my SERGU to know that. Even in the non-CVO line there is a distinct difference between the Ultra models and the non-Ultras. Like another poster said, I don't think there's anyone that would mind having one in their stable. I sure don't. ;) Do I like the eagle on the fairing, sure I do, am I upset that mine didn't come with it? Not one bit.

still would like to see one in day light before deciding whether to buy or not. Anyone know where one is????
-
So what's your point Chip?
Do I like the eagle on the fairing, sure I do,
Let me spell it out again.
All Screamin Eagle Road Glides before the 11's had an EAGLE on the bike.
You can explain or try to justify why the 11's don't have one but they don't.
So my point is since you asked, ---> I think it's a shame they didn't carry on the tradition to the 11's.

Well, three model years does not a tradition make, but that's neither here nor there. I'm not going to try and justify or explain why the MoCo does anything they do. I was just offering my opinion that the 11s are Ultras and the other three model years weren't. Whether that's right or wrong as to why they didn't put the eagle on really doesn't make no never mind to me. :nixweiss: JMO.

Well, three model years does not a tradition make,
I always enjoy reading how you justify your response.
The Screamin Eagle Road Glide model was first produced in 2000.
Nine years later they produced the 2009 Screamin Eagle Road Glide and even then they kept the Eagle tradition going.
Road Glides in the Screamin Eagle family have had EAGLES in three of the four years produced.
3 out of 4 years of production seems like a tradition to me.
Maybe I'm a traditionalist, I still struggle with why the MOCO changed the "produce a model for just 2 years" program.

Cool beans there Charlie!
:2vrolijk_21:
I knew that given enough verbage you would eventually come to the light!
Now to get back on topic, I can't wait to see one of the Frosted Ivory/Vintage Gold SE Road Glides in the sunlight.

I want to see it also. I don't particularly care for the color combo, but still want to see it. It appears to be a retro-style color combo.

The first ones may not have had the "U" in their designation but they came with rider/passenger backrests, tourpaks, lowers and most importantly EAGLES gracing their fairings.
The odd-man out here is the 09 presented in a minimalist/hot rod way sans touring garb. IMHO, the MoCo really missed the mark by leaving it off the 11.

The Triple Red is also a 2000. 2001 was a Bue and a grey.

Grey but point well taken

But not all of the things an Ultra comes with. For whatever reason the MoCo left the eagle off, only the MoCo knows, but the '11 RUSE is still a Screamin Eagle regardless. ;)

You can get a new primed fairing from Zanotti for less than $300 and have a painter here like laryB match the paint and add the eagles. It'd be unique, pay homage to the original SERG and you can keep the stock fairing in the attic for posterity.
Heck, while you're at it, pick up the 09 SERG rear fender, facia and saddle bag extensions to complete the look. All it takes is $$$$ :nixweiss:
-
The MoCO ruined the RG heritage of the eagle fairing by putting the eagle on the 2010 SE Street Glides. Talk about trying to dress up a turd... So I'm kinda glad they left it off the RUSE. Just found out a buddies creambrulee RUSE finally made it here. Hopefully will see it on the road in a week( he's getting it lowered so he can actually ride it!). Then it will be an Elfbrulee!
-
Well, you could always try and get some '11 SESG tank emblems and put 'em on your RUSE (if you could get around the VIN restriction)
-
The tank emblems on the 11 SESG are not restricted.
-
Interesting... just may have to do this to my RUSE then 8)
