I don't think it would be very easy, if at all possible. There is an amplifier for the audio jammed in under the tourpak mount and I believe it gives the detachable mount a challenge it wasn't designed to deal with.

There are some on here that have done that. Some have put the amplifier into one of the saddle bags, while others have eliminated the factory amp and went to an aftermarket (like the Hog Tunes) amps and mounted them in the fairing. It's definitely doable, just make sure you know what you're doing, or whomever does it for you does.

My freinds at my stealer just did one and put the amp in the right bag, they cut a groove in the bag and secured it to the inside of the bag not something I would do just didn't look that great the way they have to cut the groove. Functional yes the rest of it was straight forward with a big coonector for the rest of the wires. I think I would look into another Road Glide.

Has anyone come up with a kit to make the FLTRUSE tour pak detachable? Main problem I see is what to do with the amp.

Best option is to do a stereo upgrade at the same time and eliminate the factory amp. Get one of the in fairing amps and rock on! :pepper:

Mine will bw changed to a detach next week within the 1K inspection. Its a lot to do from the tecs. But than you can
ride within 3 different seat possibilities
Tha amp comes into the right saddlebag.

The dealer from whom I bought my 2011 FLTRUSE had the bike for 2 weeks. Finally decided that it could not be done. Told me it was easy on 09s and 10s because the amp (under the tourpak) only controled the rear speakers. In '11 things changed. You lose ALL functionality if you eliminate the amp.
I took the two kits to Drago's Bike Works. He did it with after market amp in the fairing, etc. This was quite some time ago.
Sounds like some dealers have finally figured it out.

Just finished up this project on Duranh's SERGU. Eliminated the stock amp and went with Hawg-wired Front to back system. Relocated the licence plate to below the light bar on the rear fender. Requires new fender strut covers, mtail lamp lens, and brackets/lighting for the license plate. Didn't take any pics though.. :(

It can be done as others have said.
I made mine detachable on my last bagger, only to hard mount it eventually because of the rattle. In the 4 years I had the bike, I took the tour pak off 4 times; 1 for a bike show and 1 to fit in a small trailer.
My little bro has an ultra and wanted to detach his, only for me to convince him to leave it. The detachable hardware is nice, but after the 25k+ miles I put on it, it rattled and was annoying. Also, much easier to steal, even with the locking cams.
Can be done though.. lose a saddlebag to it.
My perspective might be skewed since I take many, many long trips

My major trip last year covered, IL, IA, NE, CO, AZ, UT, NV, CA, OR, WA, ID, MT and WY. I get around some too. BUT, my tour pak will never go back on. I hate the damn thing. Just too big. I'll strap on a Saddleman.
In all candor, my knees need to be replaced and I got a boat load of peripheral neuropathy. Just easier to get on and off without the stupid coffin on there. ;D

Makes sense; I will concede that it looks quite cool.
Some weatherproof connectors and some solder and quite a bit of time will make a great product- I'm sure it can be done.
