I think his is happening all over the country, also stopping people for speeds that they never did before, use to get at least 7 or 8 over, now they are pulling people for anything over 5 around here!

Wow they all seem excessive...

Then add the $200-$300 "court fee" to that! I got nailed by a red light camera last summer and it was $550!

A co-worker of mine pulled into the school where we work to drop off her daughter before our shift had started. Mom wasn't at a complete stop when Daughter unbuckled seat belt & a motorcycle cop wrote her up for that & the ticket was $540. Mom has short term memory & missed her court date. She went to court to see what to do & ticket now is $1200.00. She goes back on March 3rd & the clerk says it may be reduced.

'Tis a bunch of chit.

you thinkn you have it bad, well her in australia. anyone can complain to the EPA about noisy exhaust, neighbour or passing motorist, or police etc, , next thing a letter comes in the mail , please present proof that your bike complies with noise laws, hows that for guilty till proven innocent, easy to get around as most riders down under occasionaly recieve one of these notices.
just take the pipes off , put your stock ones on , test the bike pass, send in notice of compliance , go home put your loud pipes back on .
then we have fixed speed cameras all over the highways and at intersections, private companies employed by police to hide in unmarked cars with speed cameras,
big brother is always watching
so i think you guys still have it a little better than we do
oh and we pay 25% more for our bikes than you do

The problem is California can't or won't fix to over spending problem, they just find more ways to soak more money out of us.

I've noticed a lot more cops on motor bikes lately and they are teaming up at speed traps.. If you're not familiar with these locations, your busted. These cops on the scooters are well hid and when you notice them, its too late. Within the last six months i've noticed by large degree cops pulling people over,, very obvious they're out making their city and counties money...

Interesting that stoping in a bus loading zone is twice that of running a red light (didn't realize that stopping or parking in a bus loading zone has the potential for being as dangrous as running a red light) and it's rougly four times the fine for running a stop sign.
Then, as Ernie pointed out.......the penalty or fine in Calif. is only half of it, the court fees and assessments can be as much or more than the fine. :o
