Finally made it to the York Plant in time to take the tour today. Saw about 25 of the Kryptonites that were built today waiting to go to the distribution centre. That is one awesome looking bike. They had a couple racks of the Krypto tanks out in the isle waiting to go up to the assembly line and I got a real good look at the paint under the inspection lights. What an awesome paint colour.

hat paint really pops in the sun!

Yeah, now thats a beautiful bike! :cucumber: :cucumber:

I've never been a fan of green bikes or cars but THAT is nice- so much so that if I was looking to buy a new SESG, that would be it.
-
The myth is gone I guess...

I'm a believer :2vrolijk_21:

When you took the tour, where were the CVO bikes being assembled? On the main assembly line or in the special CVO only area? There have been a lot of rumors going around but I didn't see anything definitive. An eye witness confirmation would confirm or deny the rumors.

CVO's are now made on the line in York!

I live about 35 min from the York plant. Yes the cvo's are made on the same assembly line as the other bikes. About 4 years ago I was there for a tour and they were built in a complete different building that we could not go to.

DANG!!!!!! That is one beautiful machine! :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21: Only way it'd look any better is if it had a Road Glide fairing on the front! :nixweiss:

That was unless you went on a CVO Harley tour...they would take us back to the CVO building behind the main assembly building and show us where our bikes were hand assembled. Also got a chance to chat with the workers that put the CVOs together.

Beautiful color scheme , but not for me. I am not a fan of the green hornet :cucumber: :cucumber: :cucumber:

The Cvo's have been built on mainline since the new chassis came out. They are in the process of shifting most of the stamping and paint to the softail plant. It looks like later this year most everything will be up in the softail plant and the original main building will cease operation, which is hard to believe after you see the size of it and the complexity of the assembly line. They are planning to lease the original building out. Biggest problem there is it is such an old building and there is no A/C. the softail building is much more modern so they are expanding it, but the overall production area in total will be reduced quite a bit I guess Harley has to streamline that operation to stay alive. The tour I was on was the last of the day and there was just myself and another guy. The tour guide we had has been doing tours there for 9 years and was very knowledgable. Well worth the time to take the tour.
Biggest surprise I saw was a bike Audit. That involves a senior guy riding the bike out on hwy 33 in front of the plant. I guess they take it out for about a 15 mile ride. I was there about 2 days after that major winter storm came through. York didn.t get near as much snow, as the area north, but there was still a pile of salt or whatever other crap they put on the road. I saw this bike coming back in ('11 red CVO Tourglide) and although it was a dry day, it still had a pretty good film of road chemicals on it. I guess that is typical as most of the bikes are produced through the winter months and they gotta ride them, but I wouldnt be happy if that was my bike.

For those without a sense of humor do not read any further! STOP! :stop:
This color screams Kawasaki. :rifle: :behead:
It's OK before I typed it I made sure my wife would use the Big Aluminum Bat and that should would not stop beating me until all the Krypto bikes are delivered to their lucky owners.
OUCH! UGH! Thats's going to leave a mark!
Congrats to all those that have been waiting...It is truly a Great looking Bike!!

However, I'd bet a "shark out of water" is quicker than a "bat under water".

The owner of the dealer I got my RG from just got his Krypto in today. He got a matching tour pack for it too. It should look sweet once they put it all together. :coolblue:
