 I remember when one of these solar flares hit the earth way back during the CB Radio hay days and being on the CB radio when it hit... It created a huge amount of noise and static making it impossible to talk on the radio waves for a few hours. It also caused a huge amount of interference on the tv network satellite systems. If memory serves me, that was around 1982.....
