Title: bike shut down

hello everyone first post so bare with me went to nyc for fallen heroes to ground zero was in a lot of traffic bike oil temp hit 280 then the bike started to stall one of the guys i was riding with was telling me this is normal as the cylinders were shutting down to cool off the bike started right up after each stall by the time i got to ny and parked the bike i noticed smoke coming out of the exhaust is this normal also what should the propper oil temp be i own the screamin eagle road king sorry for just babbalen on.

Welcome to the site Todd444,  when the bike gets hot it starts to add more fuel to the rear cylinder to cool it.  The bike takes on a different sound.  Hope that helps.
