Title: First skunk in Canada
Post by: fxdsegrl on August 23, 2011, 11:14:32 PM
My skunk is here :huepfenjump3: :huepfenjump3:  I can't get out to see it until Thursday though.  Hopefully it will be all PDI'd and whatever they do by the weekend so I can take it home!!  Apparently it is the only skunk in Canada right now so you will be able to pick me out... As if you wouldn't be able to tell me by my huge grin.  Whoop whoop  :orange:  I guess I will have to change my handle now too, skunk girl  ::) ...any suggestions?

How about Ebony & Ivory? Or SSS for Sweet Smelling Skunk?

Congrats on your beautiful new ride!  :2vrolijk_21:

Don't forget to post some pics.

Is this bad... I don't know the price yet!?  We've dealt with Mountainview Harley Davidson for a few yaers now and the owner has become a friend of ours, we just rode to Sturgis together with a group.  When they introduced these bikes at the dealer show I just sent a text saying that I wanted it.  They had the US pricing out, but not the Canadian at the time.  I'm sure it will be close to the US price.  I just know that Mountainview will deal fairly with me so I wasn't too worried about it.

Mountainview is an awesome dealership, they are close to you.

I agree it would be good to keep it in the water... but Orca just doesn't sound as good as skunk for some reason to me?  It should because I live in Vancouver and we have Orcas here all the time?

According to their website the CND MSRP is $33,689.00, then there's the PDI, etc.

I've also met the owner originally from Calgary and had a good chat with him when I moved here from Red Deer, Ab and been to his dealership many times for purchases. I don't know about being close to US bike prices though, he has an 09 SERG on the floor right now for over $30K taxes in and when I bought my 09 new it was $41K bone stock, $50K when I rode out the door with add ons, so I hope you don't get sticker shock when you see the price. When you pick yourself up off the floor, let us know the damage, lol. :nervous: At any rate as my boss would say, "You're gonna do it and you're gonna like it!" :2vrolijk_21:

I just looked this up.  We might do this ride.  My husband has a CVO 2011 Roadglide.  We were going to go to California but could make this our first stop and then carry on...  Thanks  :-)

OK...  I finally have some pictures.  They are up late, I was too busy riding today.  OMG this bike is amazing!  I was kind of scared of how big it was from my FXDSE, but after two minutes I was wondering what I was worried about.  It handles so great and it such a different ride.  I love the stereo, floor boards, LOVE the whole bike!

These pictures do not do the bike justice, the paint is awesome in person!

Happy trails to you.

PS - If Ebony & Irvory isn't going to fly, personally I like Orca - because you must be a Canucks fan, right?

Thanks everyone!!  I had an awesome weekend getting used to this bike!  I love it, but still need to work on my slow speed corners and walking the bike around.  I have to get used to the weight of this compared to my Dyna I could just throw that around no problem.  I am not flat footed on the new bike which makes me more uncomfortable, but I'm getting some new rubber added to the bottom of my shoes so hopefully that will help and I will see what I can do with the seat to get me lower.  I can't wait until the break-in period is over and I can just have fun.  I have almost 500k's put on this weekend, so not much longer ~ This bike feels like it just wants to go fast   :P

PS Grizzly...  Of course I am a Canucks fan, so Orca works for me! ;D

Hi and congrats on the new bike.  Very nice.  I'm not so sure you are the first to get one in Canada though as there was one with Sask. plates on it at the Canadian National Hog Rally in Kamloops this past weekend.  Maybe he bought it in the US.  I'm not sure how he could have but I didn't get a chance to talk to him.

Cheers, Moe

Have you considered an H-D front & rear lowering kit?  I've put them on every Electra Glide I've owned (6 & counting) and wouldn't have it any other way!  It may help you feel a whole lot more comfortable???

Just a thought.

PS - Okay now that we know you're a huge Canuck fan, your challenge is to get a picture of you, your bike and one of the Canuck players... With a bike as nice as that "Orca", it should be no problem at all.

So Moe, how was the rally?  Are we going to see the details in the "Ride Report" section soon?  Kamloops is a beautiful area of the country, so I'm sure it was a well attended rally.  Please share a report with pics for us inquiring minds.

Take care,
Grizzly

Thank you for this info.  My husband looked it up in HD catalogue for me and said that they do not work on my bike?  I think it has been lowered already.  Hubby is going to look at some aftermarket things too for me.  If I shaved the seat in, lowered it a bit and also got higher boots I might be OK.  If the bike is already lowered I don't want to affect the cornering/handling of it if I don't have to.  Something for me to research and deal with over the winter months...  not that I want to mention these types of months  LOL

I should have mentioned that the bike you saw was a dealer in Regina's....  His wife took it to the rally in Kamloops.  I heard it was a good rally, well organized rides, etc.  I really like the Kamloops dealership, they have been great to deal with whenever we've been there.

Unfortunately yes.  :(

Jumped in here on "Orca's" behalf because I know all exported bikes have the damn tail light and if you really want to see how fugly it is, I'm sure she will accommodate you with a pic..

Yup, Orca here accommodating you with the pic of the fugly light!  I really loved the back end when I saw it in Sturgis and it is disappointing that in Canada, and elsewhere I guess, the light is put on.

Kuryakyn has a lower profile light that will replace this and also a smoked lens.  I'm going to look around to try to find some after market stuff that might not be so fugly!

It´s a cheap aftermarket part sold by "Polo" here in germany but it is not metal , just cheap ( with 2 years warranty and the E-norm din )

Major Congrats, on the new scooter.... mine is here Nov 7th, hope to still be the first in the interior!! The tailight is a major styling blow that'll have to be rectified as soon as I get it. I loved the clean look of the one I was looking at in Sturgis.

It does suck that we have to put that big taillight on our bikes in Canada!  You will love your bike.  Today was the first day that I really got to ride it after breaking it in... I had a pretty big smile all day.  We rode up to Whistler,  it handles awesome!!!  I promise to stay out of the interior until you get yours  8)

Hey there Canadian skunk girl :) I got my mine on Wednesday and having fun! May need to do some wind management after my 2 hour ride this afternoon. Hearing is just starting to come back :nixweiss: Thinking the clear view 13 will do the trick.  Also leaning towards full sac stage one asap.  Adjusted the clutch lever upwards so I could get all 4 fingers on it, tougher pull than my SG.  Do you have a list of mods awaiting? ride safe!

Yayyyy, aren't they fun!?  All I'm looking at doing at this point is getting the bike to fit me a bit better.  I need to lower the seat and have it push me a bit further forward.  Once I get that figured out I might go with a fuel management, exhaust over the winter.  I am loving this bike as-is and even don't mind the stock exhaust sound.  My last bike was pretty loud so this is nice.  I'm sure once I ride it for awhile I will fine things I 'need' to do to it.  Have fun with it  ;D

Hey, congratulations!  That is a beautiful bike you got!!  Jagger is meticulous about looking after his bikes.  Too bad we are getting this rain now.  Hopefully it will be gone soon and you can get some good rides in still.  Jagger is supposed to be getting his in November, so not too much longer.  I probably should have checked the mileage on mine before leaving it at the dealership LOL. So, I will install a Kuryakyn Panacea light in red: it's stretched like the saddlebags...
