Post by: 09S/E roadglide on September 05, 2011, 05:57:36 PM

does anyone know if Dunlop make an Elite that fits my bike yet ? (18" rim )   Thanks guys

I had to get a new rear tire, 180/55B18, for the SESG2. Had 12000 on em. Should have changed em before I did, kinda pushed my luck.  :'(  I checked @ the end of July with Dunlop as my front tire is good. They did not have them available in the American Elite or the Elite 3 bias. They added they will be releasing additional size American Elites toward the end of the year.

I'm starting my search for tires for the SERK4 also. Still very few options. Probably go with the Elite 3 radial in front, 130/70R18, and D407 in the rear, 170/60R17. Going to stay with the Dunlop rear in case of on the road problems, slim chance a dealership may have one.

Thanks Jeff. Not having much luck on the rear. Avon makes one that size (180/55-b18) but the load index is alot lower than the bias ply tire.  :-\

this really sucks ! looking forward to seeing you in Maggie.

Yup, just went through this myself- if you want to keep the high load rating and stick to bias ply, the OEM Dunlops are all there are for the 18" wheels.

I was checking out the 2012 Dyna Wide Glide on line, and see that they come with Michelin Scorcher tires- I wonder if HD also think Dunlop sucks, and have switched to Michelin as their tire provider?

Hey Rick

As H D makes more touring models with the 18" rims, I gotta believe the manufactures identify a possible new market and address same.

Not the case with the SERK 3/4. Very limited market, no demand.

Looking forward to hooking up with you at MV. You can remind me to wear a helmet!

What issue/experience did you have that you think this needs to be done ASAP? Just asking, I'm probably going back to Dunlops front/rear so I'm curious.
