Just installed the vance hines Big Radius...oooooooooooooooh!

and...

They look awesome!!! I am torn between pipes, the Big Radius or the Bassani Pro Streets. After seeing what yours look like, you may have a twin out there.
Congrats, the bike looks great!

Thanks and I think they really match the bike...the jagged edge of the pinstriping on the tank ties into the pipe tips...the curve matches the curves of the bike.
Took less than two hours for the actual install...needed to run to the store for a long shank Torx T-50 in the middle.
They sound great and so far do not have any issues with the current Stage II Big Bore ecm download.

Man, those things look great! [smiley=beerchug.gif] If only there was a way to attach sound to the photos so we could hear 'em, too! Too bad we don't have options as trick as those for the SEEGs, huh?
-
Thanks...I'll see what I can do about the sound...

You know...in all honesty...them there pipes look pretty good on the Deuce! They have a sort of feminine/sleek/intense look to them that matches the Deuce. I've seen them on some other models --and they just didn't go as well. In my case...I find the SEII's a bit too loud however. So I surmise that those pipes might be a tad bit...lets say..louder? In addition, NH seems to be cracking down as far as enforcement is concerned on modifying exhaust. I guess three out of the four dealerships in NH no longer will install aftermarket pipes and reflash. I knew there were things in the pipeline as I've posted before. So I'll just live vicariously through you guys for the time being!

This really SUCKS!!!!!!!!! I first was going to get the BIG RADIUS pipes. Then the dealer stated that the Bassani Pro Street is the best pipe for my bike, but seeing the Big Radius has know changed my mind again. Decisions...Decisions

Skull, I still haven't decided which one to go with yet. I have only seen the Pro Streets on the Deuce in a picture. Heard the Pro Street on a sportster sounded good the salesman said the Deuce whould sound deeper and louder. Have not heard the Big Radius other than on V&H's website. I'm leaning toward the Pro Street.
-
These are definately louder than the SEIIs that were on there before. They actually have some scale-like baffles however.
/Bill
-
I've heard the SEII's and the 2barrel SE's. I personally was not at all impressed by there sound at all. They didn't seem to be any louder than the stock pipes.
-
I love the look of the Big Radius but for some reason, there is something about the Pro Streets that keeps making me lean that way also. The only thing I do not like about the Pro Streets is that the under mounting bracket is very visible and it looks a little cheap.
There was a bike in American Iron Magazine that had them and every shot I seemed to focus on that dam bracket.
It is a tough decision. I will post my final outcome pictures.

You're right on about one thing, they have the feminine curves of a fine shapely woman ... I love these thing more every day!
I put 315 miles on them Sunday and the guys I rode with were all green with envy.

Those pipes look awesome! Now I wish I still had my Fatboy.

WFP, I keep looking at your Deuce and I just gotta tell you--that thing is beautiful. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
-
It is sweet, isn't it?
-
Yeah, I probably would trade it in if the opportunity existed...but ideally, and this isn't going to happen....my wife will become such a good rider over the next couple of months that SHE will want to ride the Deuce or "New Fatboy" and we could get rid of her honda scoots....unfortunately, she is not putting enough miles on her bikes to be comfy on a Big Harley.
And thanks for the compliment!

I too kept looking at your bike and made the decision to go with the Big Radius.
If you don't mind me asking, what kind of tool bag do you have on your bike. I have been struggling trying to find one that fits and looks good.

Scraped the pipes returning home from work on Friday coming round an off-ramp. It made an eerie screech that I admit caught me off guard. I like it!

WFP,
What part number did you use for the hi-flow breather kit when you put the new pipes on? Also, did you just reflash the ECM or did you go with the Race Tuner?
Thanks,
Skull

I already had the Screamin'Eagle II pipes and the SE Breather and the appropriate flash...I will look up the Part Numbers.
The Pipes were the '03 ones without a crossover.

38083-01 download
29756-01 breather
80354-00 Pipes
I am planning on the Race Tuner next spring and finding a good Dyno Tuner around here.

WFP,
Thanks for the info! I appreciate it.

WFP that exhaust looks really nice on the SED....I mean really, really nice! [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] I don't care for them on most bikes that I've saw them on but they look like they were custom made for the SED (and I'm a 2 into 1 kind of guy!).
-
Thanks JC! Appreciate the compliment.
The next step is to add a curved axel mount license plate barcket on the other side.
/Bill
-
workin on the side mount license plate bracket. Removed the axel nut cover...will discard and replace with one that looks loke the front conical ones. Discarded the chrome belt guard. Will be adding the chrome/stainless splash guard on the insde front of fender...where the black plastic one is right now.
I think this will clean up the rear end and show more tire.

and from the reaar though not centered....

Today I got my new pipes put on. I went with a bold move and had Bassani Pro Streets in "black". They look good and sound great. Something strange though, the Service Manager came out and said there was no download for the 03' SE Deuce. He said that he would have had to go with a Screamin' Eagle download that was similar to my set-up and that wold be risky because if it did not work, they could not change it back, they would need to change the ECM.
He said that because the bike was set up for Stage 1 performance, I did not need a new download. They took it for a test ride and tole me it rode fine, then he pulled the plugs and they looked good also.
He said my only option would be to install the race tuner and fine tune the bike on a Dyno to create its own map.
Has anyone else run into this when changing out the exhaust system and installing the hi-flow breather kit?

Here is a picture from the camera phone, I will take some good ones tomorrow and post.

Now you got me curious. I have an '04 and the dealer installed a Screamin' Eagle 2 into 1 system, part number 64796-00A. We did the air cleaner kit and then he downloaded cartridge p/n 32958-04. I wonder if that was the right one. The bike runs great.
-
Pushrod,
My ride back from the dealer was roughly 55 miles and I rode all types of roads... Highway, Stop & Go, country road and the bike ran really well. I see that WFP also got a download but his part number is different than the one you just gave.
I think I am just going to get the SE Race Tuner and have the dyno'd and have it tuned correctly. While it runds great, you never know what might be going on with the motor.
