Title: 04/103 compression 10:1
Post by: roadrunner on July 06, 2004, 07:18:42 PM
I want to bump up the compression of my stock SEEG to 10:1 before I take delievery.  Has anyone done this?  I am looking for part numbers of what is needed (new heads or pistons?)  Looking to get upgrade covered under warrentary.  I also plan on having the dealer install the SE air filter and Rinehart true dual exhaust.  THanks and great web site.

Roadrunner welcome to the sight.  There are many componenets to take into consideration before raising the compression (if you still want reliability).  As far as warranty........if you raise the compression, I don't think that you'll find a dealership out there that would stand behind the warranty.  Maybe an aftermarket shop that does the work might warranty their own work.

If you move forward on this decision, please post the updates, dyno sheets, etc.  There are a lot of good, solid performance mods that have already been done to these bikes and you'll find many of them posted on this board.  Good luck [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

JCZ is certainly right about the warranty part. If you are serious about the 10:1 you can do either of the following;

Cheap.......With the stock cast pistons..mill the heads .030 and install Cometic .030 three piece gaskets.

Expensive......Switch to forged pistons 22942-00 and CNC ported heads 16934-02A with the .030 Cometic gaskets. This one will require new camshafts too. I recommend Wood TW6HG's. [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]
