Not to be the downer here...but......the onlyu difference is the saddlebag speakers, the rims, and the console light.....What have you done to your '11??? Exhaust and tuner??? That's over $1000 right there.....

But if you really like the new bike then go for it--this is rarely a rational decision.

X2,  unless you just have to get that color.  You could add the lid speakers much cheaper.

X3  $5400.00 is a whole lot of stereo.  IMHO

I would be returning the bike to stock...replacing the Extreme's with the stock set up I have saved in box and placing them on the 12'...have an extra PC-V in garage...tuner is dead since its married to the vin on bike...then it comes down to the speakers in the lids...and a year newer bike...

Id go with the hey I can afford it and i want that color more than what i have. Plus i want the speakers in the lid. Just for One year newer bike id think about that twice.
So say down the road you wanted one (which may not be there who knows what  the CVOs next year will be)  and you wanted a different color one you may kick your self.   Id do what I wanted. What I'm trying to say is if it makes since to you do it.

Add everything that has been mention and the seat, backrest and exhaust tips depending on your colour of bike in 2011. So just like as most said it comes down to the colour. I know that when I went to buy my ride it was the colour that i wanted and i did not even ask how much as long as i got that colour.

So do you really want that colour? :nixweiss:

I would say yes...I want that color more than what I have...Black Diamond with Crimson Tag...on the other note...what more can HD do with the 13' SE CVO next year...go to a 120" motor...that's all I can see and the obvious...new color scheme's...I would just bet on new color's for 13'...nothing else...carry over...they pretty much did it all...and I know right now there's a demand for low mileage clean SE CVO's ...I don't think I would ever see this deal again...in my local area...they wanted $11K and my bike...what a joke....  :-\

You see a demand for low mileage used CVO's?  You lose the most money selling it in the first year than any time else......Unless you find someone who must have your color.

As the owner of a 2011 black diamond/crimson, I don't think there is a better looking bike.  Personally, don't like the ghost flames on the 2012s.  The speakers in the bags don't do anything for me.  Keep your money.

I'd wait until there's some history on how the saddle bag speakers hold up.  If I were in the mkt for a SESG I wouldn't have let the bag speakers be a deal killer...however, I still have concerns about thier durability.  Constantly exposed to UV light, water, water hitting them at 70+ mph.  Will they cause problems after 2 yrs, 4 yrs, etc.  As stated above...that's a lot to spend for the same bike with only a few minor changes.  But...the heart wants what the heart wants...

The numbers mentioned look good so, as many have alluded to in their replies, it is really about what you want.  If logic and common sense were the only factors we based our buying decisions on then none of us would own the bikes we have! :)

The fact that you are considering the deal means that you are apparently willing to spend the money which means that it all comes down to your individual preference between the two bikes.

Good luck with whatever you decide...

What he said. If you can afford it and it's what you really want, go for it.

Unfortunately, most, myself included, can only afford to be an OR guy.  You clearly have far more money then MOST if you can collect CVOs like others collect stamps or beer mugs.  :2vrolijk_21:

I would have loved to be able to afford to keep my 2006 CVO Fatboy and buy a new 2012 CVO SG to park along side of it in the garage, but since I'm not independently wealthy, the only way to get the later was to sacrifice the former.  :(

Well and still have a garage to park either of them in.  ;D

You'll get a whole lot of opinions here on a subject like this one.   The best way I see it is what I read above. .    "the heart wins what the heart wants". It's a great way to live as long as you can swing it. I went for a new SG and I love the ride.  But I moved up from a 2004.  Your call.   Good luck either way.

You certainly have the best of the lot as your one CVO, IMHO.  The Ruby/Typhoon is the best thing to ever roll out of MoCo's doors.

:bananarock:

I got the citrus 12' street glide for christmas and I love it.  If you pay $5, 400 in addition to the trade, you're getting $30,000 for your trade.  I say do.  you won't regret it.

Ummmmmm, I must have missed that math class.  :confused5:  Let's see MSRP 32699 + 300 shipping = $32999 - 5400 cash required = $27,599 for trade by my counting.   ;) Maybe they're charging $3K over MSRP?   :nixweiss:

The way I feel about it is if you want it and CAN afford it go for it.  You didn't say how many miles were on your trade but if it's a lot that's not a bad deal.

Well, my personal opinion
If you can afford it, then why not!
Me myself, I bought a brand new 2011 softail Deluxe and I thought that it will be my bike for a while, but when I saw the released 2012 CVO SG, i bought it right away without any hesitation and never regret it because I could afforded it. At the end, I kept the two because each one of them has it's unique look
So, go for it if you can give the cash man.

Good luck

As mentioned, $5400 is a lot for a paint job. I was torn between the '11 nad '12 SESG when looking for a new bike, and barely choice the '12. THe rear speakers are mostly for the passenger, I dont hear them much. Unless you want to run a solo seat all the time, that doesnt matter. I just wouldnt want to pay the taxes again. That hurt.
