Title: 2 up seat/backrest recommendation
Post by: C-DEUCE04 on July 22, 2006, 01:56:33 PM
Anyone recommend a good 2 up seat/sissy bar combination that actually looks half decent on the deuce? If I wanted a tourer, I would have bought one so looks are definitely a concern. This is primarily for the Mrs. for those 1 -2 hour runs but maybe she'll get adventurous and stay on longer assuming its actually comfortable back there.

I've looked at the Sundowner with backrest but not sure if I should go tall or short sissy bar as well as which backrest option - touring, regular or small? As always, the stealer doesn't have anything mounted so we can't do a test sit. Any "backseat" drivers comments would be welcome.

Regarding the sissy bar, is it easy to remove/replace multiple times if I decide to take it off for those solo runs and remount it when we're 2 up?

I sat on a Std Deuce with the Sundowner w/small rest and thought it was pretty nice. It's light years more comfortable than the std SED seat.  If I did any long distance riding, I would definitely give it a very hard thought.

Btw- The rear sissy bar and pad come up very easily.

I agree with you regarding not wanting to change the looks of such a beautiful bike. I have the same concern about changing the looks of my bike as my wife is willing to ride with me. What I have done is to add the HD high back rest and place my Airhawk inflatable seat cushon for her. She is able to tolerate about 120 mile rides this way. I am however going to sell in lieu of a RK. You can see I have left the backrest on as it don't look bad.

That does look good. BTW, you need to keep that SED and just add the RK to your stable. It is too damn great looking to let go. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Concur!!!

The SED is mine (with solo saddle) and the Ultra is ours!

Keep Both!
