Hello. I am flying up to pick up my new bike this Thursday, then riding it home from Michigan to Georgia.
What is the part number for the correct rider backrest and attachment kit for this bike? I'd like to get that on order ASAP, as there is a chance I could install it before the long ride home.

Welcome aboard from Minnesota! Glad you've joined the fun. Congrats on the new scoot!

I appreciate all of the kind words from around the world!! I've been modding different things for years, so I look forward to learning, and sometimes contributing to the threads on the board.
Thanks for the backrest info, I will ask about it again. (The seller said it didn't have one)
About a week after I get it, we'll be taking our short vacation in the NC mountains...just happens to be about 20 miles from the Tail of the Dragon. I have no idea how we ended up so close... ;D (Cherohala Skyway is more fun than 'The Dragon' to me though)

Welcome to the site from East Tennessee. Hope you enjoy your new CVO. This is a great place to come for all types of information. Also, make sure to look at the for sale posts as you might find what you are looking for (backrest?) before spending much more at the dealership.
Have fun... :orange:

Congrats on the new bike from Michigan!! Call the dealer you are getting it from and they will hook you up with what you need and probably have it on when you get there. All the dealers i have dealt with here in Mich and i have lived here my whole life will take care of you :2vrolijk_21: This will be the longest three days you can remember enjoy the the new ride and your trip!!!

Congratulations on your new 2011.5 CVO Ultra Classic and welcome to the site!
-
Good news! Because this site taught me that it came with the bike, the seller dug through the various CVO boxes, and found the backrest.
So, I'll be good to go for the trip!
I assume I'll just have to slide it in place, adjust it, and I'll be good to go.
Thanks everyone!

Hey Brother, Ron brings up a great point. If the bike is completely stock and you are tempted to make upgrades, be sure and check here before buying an exhaust system, cams and fuel programmer, suspension mods, iPod and sound system upgrades. A lot of them have become almost standardized in what people are installing but the return is pretty darn good.
Many are going the following route but it's your call and what you expect. Be prepared that your stock bike has a catyletic convertor in it and if you live in an area that requires emissions testing you may have to be creative. Many are going the Fullsac exhaust system (x-pipe or sport pipe) and then installing their new muffler baffles. But they also have a TTS programmer and numerous canned tunes for ease of installation. Cams are a different thing and subjective to your likes. Warranty comes into play of course so you have to figure that out as well. Suspension mods. Progressive monotubes upfront and their 940 rear shock is a very common and respected way to make your new bike ride much much better. There is the Traxxon front system and rear shocks like Biturbo and Legends air shocks but they'll set you back more coin.
Just wanted to catch you before the mod bug hits and you immediately take your new sled to the dealer for some mods. I haven't messed with my tuner yet but since we have a similar background you shouldn't have any problems. Lots and lots of good info here and lots of shops willing to help out plus make a little coin their way. It's just one of those things that's finally starting to settle into my brain. Harley sells us a bike and the industry that's built up around that sale keeps innovation coming to the market and income to those producing it. I would say cottage industry but more like a megapolous network.
IIRC there are some very good tuners and shops in your area but you'll find that out as you learn and ask. Cheers and enjoy.

Welcome to the site from Southern Ontario, Canada :pepper: :pepper: :pepper:

I made it home, had 51 miles on it Friday @ noon, now it has 881 safely in my garage. I posted the VIN to SSB's thread. I enjoyed all but snow on the way back from Detroit: massive rain twice, cold in the morning, and super hot about 50 miles north of ATL. Got about 40 MPG for the whole trip, and hit ~100 a few times as necessary. I spent about 8 hours cleaning it today. Found that Windex Multi-surface cleaner works great at removing water spots before you apply wax.
