Title: Who's workin' overseas?
Post by: dayne66 on December 18, 2012, 05:25:29 PM
I'm a Journeyman in two trades: Instrumentation Technician and Electrician. I just got 'released' from a maintenance contract at a pulp mill in Northern BC after 2.5 years and am in the market for a new job.

There's lots of work in Fort McMurray......but, I'd like to avoid that place!

I'd like to get overseas again...have worked in Libya and Portugal, done camps, rotations, travel.

Any leads would be appreciated.

Any questions, etc......PM me.

I've spent four years in Afghanistan contracting for the US Army as a Technical Inspector on AH-64 Apache helicopters.  I've been home about 18 months while my wife has gone through cancer treatment but she is much better now.  Pretty much gone through all the money I saved and am thinking about going back after the first of the year.  Probably going to look for one of the 60 day 30 day rotation jobs if I can find it.  I'm tired of staying there too long.  It sucks but it does pay the bills and finding work here in the states in the aviation industry is much tougher than it used to be and pay scales have taken a plunge.  I have too much experience and licenses to work for free.  Just makes me sick to my stomach to think about having to go back over into all that chit.  Anybody thats been there knows what I'm talking about.  Its nothing like what the new media shows it to be or what you read in the papers.  Oh well, one day at a time.
