Well,
It's time to say good bye.........I really stepped on my ding dong today. I have to say it's been great knowing you all, but on Saturday, _Beagle may meet his maker (and I don't mean Markers Mark). While working on my nephew's gas scooter today, I pulled a real bozo.....My brother in law's bike was in my garage, and you guessed it........about a 3 inch long scrath in the saddle bag. Now you have to know Hank (sisters hubby), great guy, ex Marine corp gunnery sargent....still in VERY good shape.....I'm a dead man!!! I thought about having it painted, but he's got one of those fancy shmancy marblized jobs that's pretty close to impoossibe to match.........Wish me luck when he gets home.........maybe he'll be nice and shoot me real quick like......... :'( :'( :'(
Does anyone know if HD still makes parts for their factory custom paint sets?????

Damn that sux.....
:'( :'( :'( :'(
I can only imagine how bad you feel; sick to your stomach no doubt...
but you are being a stand up guy about it...
( me, i'd be off to the nail polish store for all the blue shades i could find! ;)
be strong brother,,, and keep up posted as to how it gets resolved
-
Man that sucks, :-/ I know I did dropped my tour-pak on the garage floor and all the effort in touching up didn't accomplish anything really. But you get extra credit for being a stand up guy and admitting it. Like most I would be looking for a close touch up stick or at least a few old qualudes stashed somewhere and give him a few and a shot before I told him. ::) Maybe before you tell him find a church where the pastor is doing a sermon on forgiveness this Sunday. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
-
Oh boy, that really sucks.
-
Ooohhhhh!! .. The first thing that popped into my head when I read your post was the sound of a bugle for beagle playing "Taps" :o :o :o
BTW, NICE paint job!
-
Nice paint job!!!
-
....I figure about $1K and my local favorite (paint shop) can fix it.........He ain't cheap,
-
Mrs.
He's got a 4 yr old and a 6 yr old. He keeps the bike here so it won't get damaged........Sooo much for that freakin brilliant idea huh???? Took damn near a 5th of Johnnie Black last night just to get to sleep.......This whole deal is making me sick. The worst part is that it'll be Monday till I can talk to my painter to see if he can fix it.....Hank is still gone, so he doesn't even know about it yet. I got an idea.....maybe I'll just shoot myself, then I won't have to tell him..... [smiley=nixweiss.gif] [smiley=nixweiss.gif]
_Still feeling like a sh$t stain in San Diego :'( :'(
-
Might be wise to feed Hank the 5th of Johnnie Black...wish you good luck with the paint next week.
-
HB103 thanks.......I'm sure I'll manage.......He may be ex Marine, I'm ex-horsemen....still know how to drop a body or two myself.......

Feel aweful for ya.
Imagine you thought about having it stolen. Sucky stuff.
-
Beagle,
What was the outcome of the garage incident?
-
Well,
He's been home for 5 days now, and still hasn't been by to see it. Looks like I may make it. I have a call in to my painter here in town, if it can be fixed....this guy can do it (Uptown Cycles....ask for Tony if you need some work done).
I'll let you know what's up...

-
Well,
-
Good sign, he can't be too tied up over it if he didn't rush over.
-
He may be just cleaning the Desert Eagle for one good round.....dunno.
-
Ouch. That's a bad one and it will take a pretty good painter to fix it. It should almost go back to the guy who painted it. Good luck with it though. [smiley=oops.gif]

You will all be happy to know that I survived the Wrath Of Hank.....He came over yesterday and we worked on his bike for a while......no shots were fired, no one went to the hospital (my a$$ is a little sore this morning....but I'm alive). I promised to get the bag down to the painter asap, he was OK with that......You guys should know, Hank is really a great guy (not to mention the ONLY one who made it past me and my brother).......So I figure a couple of weeks at the painter and $400-500 and it should be good as new. Thanks for the prayers....

RJOB,
I don't think we is expecting it to be invisable.......just due to the nature of the paint job, but if it's at least blue, and maybe some black thingies in there....he'll be happy. I'll post some pics when it gets back from the painter...

Sometimes our minds can work up some horrific scenarios that never come to pass (thank goodness), glad this one worked out for you.
Hank sounds like a good guy, one who knows you're doing him a favor having the bike there and it could have just as easily happened in a parking lot, his garage or whatever.
-
Two,
Thanks for the input, but sh$t happening on my watch is not an option. I effed it up and I'll get it fixed.........I'm just glad that Hank is being OK with it so far........I hope Tony can fix it.....I can't afford a whole new paint job right now..

Aren't we mellow this morning, I didn't even get a good rise out of you ;)
I think your painter will make it work too, they always have some good ideas to repair custom work.
-
He's mellow cause Hank's cool BUT also cause we got the Barcolounger ( Road Zep) installed on his Cherry Bomb yesterday. Man I've never seen a seat that wide, but the depth and back support seem top shelf and if the air bladders keep your a$$ off the seat pan on long rides, this could be The Seat my bro's been needin. My fingers are crossed. We're headed out with wifey's and Hank in a few minutes to test. Did I mentioned that most of the OCD stuff on Hank's bike came from Beags and I. That might just be why he didn't go postal about the bag scratch.
Later Dudes, gotta ride Big B
Sounds about right, I have a bud with the Zep and he's a big guy. Swears by it and the local dealer makes him trade about every year and a half to keep the bike under 50k miles. If he keeps them much longer he ends up at 90k in no time and they can't move the trade so he gets hosed. They actually work with him pretty good when he trades before 50k.
-
So we head out for the aforementioned ride. Get about 15 miles from Beag's house and stop to top off cause we're headed somewhere (never did find out) out in booneyland. This camera guy from the local 8 News (San Diego) comes up with his camera and asks about the Santa Ana winds that are kickin up. Well at that point it had been a little gusty, but no big thing. So yours truly launched into a spiel about what a stable bike the Harley-Davidson Road Glide is and how I'm an experienced rider and blah blah blah- - the usual Spiderman line of BS (God Bless America Yeah for Harley-Davidson) . Camera dude seems not to care for that line so he goes over to Beags and asks him. Beags ( bless im) says " I kinda like the Santa Ana's So News at 6 comes on and wifey switches to channel 8. Big piece on the winds with downed power lines and a crushed car and all. Then on the screen comes us. Me first then Beags. What a laugh.
They're gonna put me in the movies. They're gonna make a big star out a me. They're gonna put me in the movies. And all I gotta do is act naturally.
