Title: '71 Superglide
Post by: legs on May 28, 2014, 10:08:16 AM
Wish I had gotten this stock, with butt ugly boat tail fender and all, but it's been a fun bike and attracts a lot of attention. Best part, it has a bone stock frame and titled as 1971 SUPERGLIDE. I did a total rebuild winter of '99 and freshened up the 100" Truett & Osborn stroker motor. It also has a lot of great Karata primary and magneto stuff, as well as an early Fat Forx 52mm front end (serial number 009). Painted it myself, graphics by Sandman. All and all it's a great little bar hopper and holds a lot of personal history for me, as it was a deceased Bro's ride he had built up back in the mid eighties.

Love those Shovels. I have an '80 FXB Sturgis that I've had since new. Didn't keep it stock over the years. That's a good looking ride.

If you are interested, I have an original boat tail (blue with white stripes), seat, and inner fender for your 1971.  These are original part and the inner fender is still in primer from the factory.  If you are intersted, PM me with an offer I can't refuse.  I can send pictures if you would like.  I also have an original head pipe but not the muffler.

Holy Cow Landshark!!! What a delema! Probably very few of those parts around. You are sitting on a gold mine there. Oddly enough I have the narrow glide front end... would need the drum brake assembly for those few years. MoCo went to disc front disk in '72. Rest of the parts could still be sourced.

My problem is I've got more projects than time, being born before color TV and all (but after B&W). In fact I've been putting up a FATVO in a softail these past few years. Running gear in, just need to get the paint and cables on. Not sure if I want another project. I'll kick that around for a bit. Thanks for the info though.

Anyone want an uncut '71 Superglide frame? I know where a rear fender set up is!  :2vrolijk_21:

I agree. A Shovel head with drags doesn't just start it COMES ALIVE. If you have had one or know someone with you know what I'm talking about.

Nice ride!  Hard to find the exhaust for those……..but there's nothing like the original classics!
