Went to the little theater here in Coronado last night to see the movie.  We've been to this theater many times but it's the first time we've ever saw a line and it was a block down the street.  Many people in line that knew Chris and his wife when they lived here.  And of course a few SEALs had to come to see it.

Mc Ps Irish Pub here in Coronado (the bar depicted in the movie) is where they all hang out.  It's not a secret in this little community that that's their turf and if you're confused, just take a walk inside.  We have three ex SEALs working as Asst. Supt. on the new construction project (360 units) that I'm working on.....interesting guys, all three of them.  Very humble and down to earth....no swagger at all....just great guys.

Chris was obviously a man dedicated to his country and willing to go to any lengths to do his part.  Much respect for this guy.  RIP Chris.

Does anybody know what happened to the guy that shot him?

Last I read is he was still awaiting trial.  It was supposed to have start in May of last year but was delayed.

Here is what I could find in searching.

Erath County prosecutors have decided to seek a life sentence without parole for Eddie Routh:

Routh is accused of shooting Chris Kyle, 38, and Chad Littlefield, 35, both of Midlothian, on Feb. 2, 2013, at the shooting range at Rough Creek Lodge, an upscale resort outside Glen Rose in Erath County. The lodge is about 77 miles southwest of Fort Worth.

Area police reports documented Routh’s mental problems well before the killings at the gun range.

As her son’s condition worsened, Jodi Leigh Routh contacted Kyle and asked him to help. Kyle is considered one of the deadliest snipers in U.S. military history.

By now you’ve surely heard on this blog or elsewhere about Kyle. His memoir, American Sniper, has been made into a film that will be released on Christmas.

Maybe your stomach for executing someone as so clearly mentally disturbed as Routh has been reported to be — especially someone whose mental ills may stem in part from post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of serving his country — is stronger than mine, but this seems like the right call.

The trial is set to begin Feb. 9 in Stephenville.

Thanks for the info. Bill.

As for Jesse Ventura....he was able to prove that he wasn't in Coronado (or California) during the time period claimed.  He sued Chris Kyle for defamation of charichture (how is it possible to defame that charichture?) and won.  He then sued the estate of Chris Kyle (basically, Chris' wife and kids) and won.  She filed an appeal a few weeks ago.  Definately a sensative subject here in Coronado.

Watched American Sniper a couple nights ago (Awards version), it was very well done, hats off to Clint Eastwood.  I did 4 tours in Vietnam and the 1st Iraq war (Desert Storm).  The Seals I've met on deployment and stateside prior to retiring in 1998 after 30 years were all professionals of the highest order.

I saw it Sunday night. The theater was full, and as the crowd was walking out of the theater after the movie it was totally quiet. My dad was a combat Engineer in Vietnam, so I grew up in a household with someone with PTSD, long before PTSD was a diagnosis. This movie definitely affected me emotionally. I hope every teenage boy in the country goes and sees it, and so they can understand what Patriotism really is!

I saw the movie  at 10:30 Am Friday the first day.  At lunch afterwards I was talking to Linda about some of the scenes and tears were still uncontrollable.  Drafted Aug 20, 1970 early out Feb 22, 1972, Fort Dix and Fort Polk; Company A Headquarters Command, Spec 4, refused a 5 because of having to be on the post duty roster.  Ed  11B20 ended up 76Y40

Hooah,

Old 36C20 (cable dawg) here.. Was a Master Fitness Trainer but you wouldn't know it now. Now a 25B20 with the National Guard.  Movie was outstanding though difficult to know the outcome was due to friendly fire so to speak...  Hard to say whether I hope the gunman gets the help he needs or rots in a cell forever..

The 27-year-old Routh receives an automatic life sentence without parole in the deaths of Kyle and Kyle's friend, Chad Littlefield.
