Aligning the newer bikes (either years yours are listed since you didn't specify) isn't the same or as simple was it was older touring bikes prior to the 09 frame change. On yours, and in my limited experience helping a couple others with them, you can do some measurements to fixed points front and rear from a known center point and see if things are symmetrical. It seemed tedious. And each time I've done I didn't find them off. In fact I found them dead on even on bikes with obvious handling problems.
Based on my few admittedly few data points I'd suggest the following: Measure very carefully from the centers of the rear shock mounts. On both bikes I was lucky enough to sort out both were off. Not what one would necessarily consider "a lot" but they were off. That meant the swingarm's alignment had to be off. Not horizontally up and down. Checking for symmetry with lasers could tell you that. A difference in the center to center shock mounts measurement will tell you if it's off longitudinally along the centerline of the bike. It's easy to measure so what the hell. Start there.
If that measurement is off then remove the fixed front stabilizer link and replace it with an adjustable replacement. Using that part make the link longer or shorter until the shock mount center to center measurements are precisely identical. Shocks won't fix this problem if their mount is the issue.
Hope this helps. It comes from admittedly limited experience with the newer bikes. So don't shoot the messenger. But the test is free and easy and the new part is also (by Harley standards) relatively inexpensive and it's easy to adjust. The adjustable front stabilizer link you'd need you'll find in the aftermarket and, I think this is right, will fit all the touring models from 2009 up.

Never done a bike alignment, how is this did. Thanks Both of your bikes will be similar as how to check things. Service manual is a good investment. YouTube has videos that may help you You can start by getting the bike off the ground. Level the frame, get a magnetic level on the front and rear rotors and check to see if everything is level and plumb. A good place to start and easy to do. The engine (and the rear swing arm) may be leaning to one side. This will tell you if you need new motor mounts . There are front engine stabilizers available that are adjustable to level the engine (swing arm). You can do a search on here as well, I’m sure someone can explain it better than me! Some feedback would be nice when you find the issue. Good luck. |

Could be temperature related, going into open circuit. Crank sensor is located near the oil filter and can get bumped or cracked during filter removal.
