First CVO, Cant Wait for it to Arrive
« on: April 20, 2015, 09:52:57 AM »

Been following threads for information about a year.  Saturday I asked my favorite Middle TN dealer, Bumpus in Murfreesboro, for a price on a Red CVO RGU which they were showing on their inventory site.  Had priced Cool Springs, Columbia and Boswell's earlier and Bumpus beat them all by just a little. Trading my 4 year old Ultra Limited in after 32,000 miles.  After a bit of discussion price was acceptable and put a deposit down.  Bike is due in, in the next week.  They said they had a prior deposit on it but buyer had changed to a different bike which was in stock.  I really like this dealer as they have an acceptable service department, outstanding parts and accessories, fair sales and 12-15% off parts and accessories all the time.  Could probably have done a bit better over at Knoxville or Maryville but really wanted to stay closer to home to deal with any issues.

I know "This Thread is Worthless Without Pics".  I'll post a photo when I get it home, hopefully this week.

Good deal!  Looking forward to the pics.  As for not wanting to go to K'ville or Maryville and stay local, I completely understand.  While you may (or may not) have received a better deal, keeping local does have it's benefits if your local dealer is a good one.  Congrats on the new scoot.  K'ville West and Clinton Hwy have one each of the Burgundy Blaze.  Beautiful bike.... :2vrolijk_21:

Picked bike up yesterday and photos will be up eventually however it was getting to be late afternoon.  1st impression was the Burgandy Blaze is really pretty in the afternoon sun.  Photos do not do it justice.  The 3 first impressions were the steering was significantly lighter than my Ultra Limited.  Found I was moving around in the lane without meaning to.  2nd, the exhaust and valve sound was significantly less than my 103.  Guess this may increase as I get some miles on it.  3rd, I'm looking more over the windshield than expected and getting a good bit of wind in the face.  This is not bad in good weather or around town but may look into a recurve or taller shield for winter and travel.  Also find I like the bars and seating position so will leave that alone for now.

Beautiful.  Try experimenting with the vents open and/or closed. I find that leaving the upper vent open works very well. With all three of them to open, I get a gentle breeze at freeway speeds.

Greg, I'm looking 3-4 inches over the windshield and get a pretty good wind from about my nose up.  Vent does not have much effect.  Wind is smooth and no buffeting but still effects hearing tunes and enjoyment.  Will probably try out either the taller HD shield or the 15" Klockwerks Touring or 15-16" Freedom shield.

Dave I seem to recall your pretty tall, did you try the Pro Touring before your Flair?  Your using a lower seat though so may not be similar.

Gradually getting things set up two or three an evening.  Handlebar controls figured out, Radio tuned, phone linked, garage door opener installed, shorty antennas off my Limited installed and last but not least front reflectors are history.

That's a B.E.A.utiful scooter, Ron.  Just got back from a oil run to K'ville West.  The Burgundy is still there along with the blue....Dale rolled the Burgundy out in the sun....that thing really beams in the sunshine.

Good ridin' to you, brother.

Guess I'll get to the rear reflector when I do R-T-B signals similar to Dave.  Been waiting to go back to Bumpus to see if they have the Custom Dynamics lights and some other small stuff.  They give a 15% off all clothes, parts and accessories with the bike.  Its not much but better than other dealers in the area.

Haird, what part of East TN are you.  My daughter lives in Knoxville-Cedar Bluff Area and need to take a trip up that way.  Just cant seem to find the time.

My mistake, I thought stock shield was 15 inches.  Its actually 14 inches so I probably need to be looking at 14-15 inch recurve's.

I'm 6'1".  With the stock seat, the stock shield was pretty good, some wind, but it was best with all three vents open.  Yes I tried the Klock Werks Pro Tour, took it for a 30 mile demo ride at Daytona with the stock seat on my bike.  Was better than stock.  I could run 80mph and my door-rag stayed on my head.  I was afraid with the lower corbin solo I was planning to add to my bike it would be too tall.

So, after I got the tour pack relocated and put the lower corbin solo on I put my wife's Klock Werks sport on my bike and road for a day.  It was about the same as the stock shield with the stock sheet, or slightly better.

If you can try the Klock Pro tour with out buying it, it would be worth it to give it a try.

Thanks Dave.  I'm 6'2" and wind is hitting me about nose level so need to push it up about 3 inches.  Going to see if any dealers within a couple hours have Klock Werks or Freedom to try.  I seem to recall seeing Freedom's at Cartersville and I think several HD dealers carry Klock Werks demo shields.

The stock windshield has been perfect for me but I have a rock chip in mine. If any of you guys who "upgrade" want to sell their stock shield, let me know.  Thank you!

Had to laugh a little today about the new bike. Found my first QC issue.  If this is the worst I find everything will be great. Picked up Custom Dynamic Led front turn signals and went home to put them on. Discovered I had one smoked signal with amber bulb and one orange with clear bulb. :) Easy fix.

While I agree with you and sure Bumpus would gladly do it, I am only 10 minutes from HD Cool Springs who is open late and sells individual smoked lens so decided to let Bumpus off the hook.  It was going to be next week before I could get to Murfreesboro and wanted to finish the light install.  Surprised the prep guy, salesman or I never noticed it.

Bought the led's at Bumpus and ran into my salesman who told me they had already sold my Limited.  Guess I should have tried a little harder to sell myself but saved a $1000 sales tax by trading.

I felt the same way about the stock windshield. Just took my first trip with my new 15" Freedom Shield and love it.
