Neutral Indicator Light
« on: April 23, 2015, 07:22:15 PM »

Greetings All - I need a little help.  I trying to find out if the neutral indicator light on my 2013 CVO Electra Glide has a single fuse.  I noticed the light does not come on when shifting into neutral.  Any and all thoughts appreciated.

Light is probably burned out.  Have replaced this on 3 Harleys already. If not the light most likely the neutral switch is bad.

The neutral light doesn't have a dedicated fuse, so if all the other lights work a fuse isn't your problem.  Try eliminating the neutral switch from the equation by removing the two push on wiring connectors at the neutral switch and connecting those two wires together with a jumper while the ignition is switched on.  If the light works, you have eliminated bulb failure and pointed a finger directly at the neutral switch.  Another way to test the switch is with an ohm meter.  With the trans in neutral there should be continuity (no resistance) between the two electrical connector studs.  With the trans in gear, there should be infinite resistance (open circuit).

My local dealer replaced the indicator module to restore the neutral light.  I am back in business.
