Yep...

Cut the bone in front of the joint of the big toe, realigned, screwed and pinned it back together.  And shaved the huge bump off the side of the ball of the foot.  No weight bearing for three to six weeks.  In about eight weeks, we get to repeat the process on my right foot...

My wife has a similar issue but refuses to do anything but live with it.  Hope you heal up fast and feel great.

My left foot had deteriorated to the point that "living with it" was no longer an option.  The bone structure had deteriorated to the point that the weight bearing part of my foot was no longer bearing weight, if that makes sense.  The long term future was going downhill fast unless I had surgery to correct it.  I had put surgery off for many years.  My right foot is not quite as bad, but I'm going to have both corrected now and be done with it. 

Now to keep from going stir crazy while it all heals...   :nervous:

I wanted to get this done in early, early spring...  I started the process of trying to get things going prior to the holidays late last year.   But the doctor I wanted to use is really good at this, and his schedule reflected it.  And I didn't want to get it done in the dead of winter, as I have experienced crutches, ice and snow in my past.  So rather than compromise and choose another doctor, I decided to just bite the bullet and get it done.   I actually ended up delaying the surgery a few weeks due to our other pup tearing her ACL and requiring surgery about a month and a half ago.  It just wasn't going to work having her in a cast on three legs and me in a cast on one leg.  :2vrolijk_21:

All the bumps, bruises, bends and other "body notations" that are earned and enjoyed are absolutely worthwhile.  One of my favorite movie lines comes from a pretty weak movie I really liked call "The Replacements."  Something to the effect of:
