R.I.P my brother - One Hell of an Amen
« on: August 27, 2015, 02:53:30 PM »

On August 15 my best friend was riding his 2011 CVO RG home from teaching an MSF course when a minivan pulled out on him at the last second.  He was in the right lane and hit the driver's side front quarter panel right at the front wheel.  Investigating office said he had no time to react and witnesses said he never touched the brakes or tried to avoid the minivan.  It literally pulled out on him the second he approached the driveway.  He was thrown over the hood of the minivan and landed 28ft away.  He had sever head trauma and at the scene was basically brain dead.  He was doing 45mph which was the speed limit.  He had a DOT helmet and was always geared up - after all he was an MSF instructor and had been for years.  He taught for Baltimore Harley as well as Frederick Harley.  He was also the co-owner of Pro-Rider of MD (police motorcycle skills course for civilians).

He was removed off life support 2 days later where he passed peacefully.  He was a retired Marine and my best friend!  He was supposed to be going with my family and I to Myrtle Beach last week and was towing our CVO's.  I was blessed enough to spend the last night of his life with him as he attended a BBQ Bash with my family and I.  The next day he was gone.  We spent every holiday together and rode together often.  Not a day went by that we didn't communicate in some way.

His funeral was this past Tuesday and he had a state and county police motorcycle escort, patriot guard riders, about 60-80 motorcycles as well as numerous cars in the procession.  I was the first motorcycle to lead the procession behind the family limo and I got one last ride with my best friend.  He went out doing what he loved to do.  His life as riding.  He was buried at Crownsville Veteran Cemetery.  The Marines were there and played taps - absolutely brutal.

Just a reminder that even the safest riders out there aren't safe and life can be gone in an instant.  He never saw it coming and never felt a thing.

R.I.P. my brother - you will be missed

I am so very sad to read this. I don't even know what to say, except please accept my deepest condolences on the tragic loss of your best friend.

We've lost too damn many to idiot drivers.

I am so sorry for your loss and for all the family.  It is so tragic and needless, and it makes me sick, angry, mad, but mostly just so very sad.
I hope and pray that some good comes from it, and the only comfort can give is to pray for the family and friends, and for you all to know that your good friend is with the Lord now.  That is the comfort God wants to have and share with each other until we all get to meet again one day.

Thank you everyone for the thoughts, kind words and prayers!  They are very much needed.  This has been one of the worst weeks of my life.  The investigating officer gave me the bell from his bike that I gave him and put on.  It was a Marine bell and he put an Air Force bell on my CVO after I bought it.
