Two-up to solo TP distance.
« on: October 28, 2015, 05:21:59 PM »

I have moved and need to build a new rack for the TP. Last one was 'post mounted'...no post in this garage.
I intend to get a solo mount one day soon.
I'd like to make the rack so it'll accommodate the TP with either the two-up or solo mount installed.
So....how much does the TP move forward from the two-up to the solo position?

If you're asking about on the bike....you know what the two up position is.

There's several pics in this thread that show both mine and Terrie's Street Glides with the tour pack in the solo positions....  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=74330.30

dayne, do you plan hanging them on the wall? If so some allthread mounted paralell makes for a handy rack. the backrest will be facing down. If there are exposed studs a few holes and it's done, if not angle iron or such will be required. I'll try and get a pic. and maybe some measurements for yer original question

just an option here. I made one similar to the one you can buy from HD but I like this setup better.

Easy and simple....and will fit either mount.

I was hoping to mount the TP in the up-right position...for access to the inside.
You put it on there with the slots up and the latches down?

I don't think that one has the 'reach' for a solo mounted TP.
My last one that I made, the arms of the backrest 'hugged' a big square post.....this time it has to go against a flat wall.

I made one out of steel pipe in the past when I lived in Ohio, it worked great, no pictures though I did find this one on line that may work for your application.
