It takes over an hour to update once you get the install going. The download was quite a while too, and I have a fast internet connection.

of the export.

No, you just put the drive in and turn on accessory. It will see the update and you just click yes to install.

No go on this end just stays in Authenticating loop.
What year and model bike do you have. Do you know what map version you had before u updated. Also what is the name of the
.iso file on your usb stick.

It's the 15 Limited in my sig. I had Q2 2013. The file name is swdl.iso.
What I did - Reformatted the usb to Fat32 so that it was clean, exported the info from the bike. I downloaded the naviextras toolbox and reinstalled it with the same version so that it was clean also. I plugged in the usb and started the naviextras toolbox. It told me it had the map updates and I clicked OK or yes whatever was the choice to install the map updates to the usb. It took quite awhile to download. When that was done I ejected the usb. Plugged it into the bike and turned it on. It asked if I wanted to update and I clicked install. I'd guess that it was about 10-15 minutes to authenticate and then over an hour to install. Good luck.

Okay thank's I tried all that about 4 times would not get past authenticating.

I ended up changing the name on the .iso from swdl to swdl_boombox_6.5GT_CVO.iso
And then it installed just fine.  Took about an hour This is on a 14 with1.19.1.1 and Q2 2012  maps so if anyone has this problem the above worked for me.

Anyone else having problems creating an account with Navi Extras? Both of my email addresses apparently don't take incoming messages (validation links) even though I use them all the time for other sites.

Disregard. It let me sign in even though I didn't go through a validation point with my email. Makes me wonder if I set up an account previously and forgot about it.  ::)

The book on page 179 does not give a number of free updates.  It just states updates are free over a five year period for CVO's.

If you have a MAC book or iMac or any other apple computer you can not do the free update.

Harley Davidsons wonderful customer service is every thing but that.  I called and asked how to get my free updates.  There suggestion was I purchase a Windows based computer.  I asked about them sending me the maps on stick, seeing I have bought 9 new Harley's, four of which were CVO since 07.  They again suggested I get a windows computer as they could not help.....

I told her it was no wonder Sales keeping going down with solutions like that..

My update makes it about 50% and throws an error and ask to reinsert the usb device.  The bad part is the system locks and you have to reinstall the 19.1.1 update just to turn the bike on.  No matter what you do it comes back to the error.   I even unhooked the battery for 5 mins.  I couldn't find any help on the web site.  Anybody have any ideas?  I've also tried 2 different reformatted 8gig thumb drives.  Maybe I just need a strong drink! :drink:

I'm wondering if you could use an Apple computer with Windows on it running Parallels?

Got the update done to bike fine after some issues getting Navi Tools to load files on the USB drive.  After a computer reboot it worked OK other than taking forever.  Did have to do the rename of the iso file mentioned earlier.  Bike had 2013 Q2 from the factory now updated to 2014 Q2.  Wonder when the newest files are released for update?  Looked like the 2014 files had an early 2015 file date.

:)   Another good reason to avoid wasting money on those manufacturer built-in NAV systems.  For a bit over a hundred bucks US you can buy a Garmin that comes with lifetime map updates and can be used in any of your various vehicles.  I refused the Nav option back when it required a CD to operate back in the day, and I've refused them ever since.  Being in the business, I was fully aware of all the complaints and issues those built-in systems generate.

I just ran the 19.1.1 update and then tried the map updates. It sees the signature and downloads the swdl.iso to the USB, but I tried 3 times on the bike--stays on Authenticating for 20 minutes and nothing. I canceled and tried 3 times--same crap.

Just tried it....got stuck in a software update not complete, please re-insert USB drive loop. Not even shutting the radio and power got it out...had to put the 1.19.1.1 update on the USB and re-update the radio to get working again.

Did you remove the NaviSync folder when trying to update the maps so that the swdl.iso was the only file on the stick? I tried with the folder on the stick and with just the iso.....so far no luck either way.

Just noticed that someone said the file was over 3GB...my swdl.iso is barely 16MB.....that could be a problem

That iso file directs it to the other folders to pull the updates. I'm having the same issue as you clear down to the re-insert usb message. Reformatted the usb, uploaded 1.19.1.1 again to restore the radio to functioning. Cleared the usb, put the footprint back on it so Naviextras would see it. Downloading the map updates to the usb this time instead of to the PC and then copying it to the usb. Hoping for better luck this time around. Going to be a few hours before I have it from the website onto the bike to check if it worked.

I selected the map update from the NaviExtras this time. The USB auto-updated when the software found it so I have the swdl.iso on the USB, but I am downloading the map update which is taking some time. I will see what kind of file that generates when the download is done.

The adventure continues......

UPDATE----with map update on the USB key(in the NaviSync folder) AND the swdl.iso file, the radio found it and is applying the 1 of 1 NAV update. Now let's hope it finishes.

The first time NaviExtras said it downloaded an update to the USB stick and I had to install it...so it looks like I was running the installer without the actual map update on the key. Now I see the swdl.iso is just the application that points the radio to the NaviSync folder on the key. Just poor directions and prompts by the software.

and it does take a while---been running 1/2 hour on the bike and it's just over 1/2 way done. My battery tender will be working harder than usual tonight.

Dumb question but is this US maps? If I understand correctly you have to do radio update first?  Sorry but I understand most of what was posted but missed the order. I am guessing this is first map update ever offered??

Okay. After 24 minutes of authenticating, I renamed the file like Chuck did. Plugged it in and after asking me if I wanted to update to "trunk" it did this. Will go out in a few and check it again. Garage is unheated and its a little chilly here right now.

The update to trunk is what screwed me up. I had to re-apply the 1.19.1.1 update to get it to work again. The I let the Navixtras software download the swdl.iso file to the USB key, then I downloaded the map update and it automatically put it on the USB. Then went back to the bike and tried again and this time it worked.

I have had my bike since I bought it new in 14.  This is the first map update that I have seen.  It is North America.  You don't have to do the latest radio update first.  I did both the nav update and the radio update yesterday.  I did the nav update first with no problems on either update.

Make sure all functions of the Infotainment System (radio, CB ,GPS) are off before loading the map updates into the bike . This is one cause of the perpetual " Authenticating " notification . Don't ask me how I know this . :nixweiss:

I'm wondering if you could use an Apple computer with Windows on it running Parallels?

I am sure that would work.  It's just not right I be forced to buy something to be able to use my free updates.  It's also more of the attitude I got from customer service.

Push in and hold for 3 seconds the on/off button .  Poor choice of words  concerning "turning the radio off". I should have said make sure you are out of the Home Page  and displaying the HD shield/time image  before  attempting to download updates .

Okay but I believe all that does is change the screen. Because if it was really turning the system off. When you turned it back on you would have to wait for the boot up sequence and time delay including the accept screen and none of that happens as soon as you hit the
button it is back just like it was when you thought you were turning it off.
I guess we may be putting it in the sleep mode or screen saver mode.

Got my maps updated.  Talked to my local dealer about it after Customer service solution was to buy a windows based computer.

I uploaded the bikes image to my memory stick.  Dropped it off at the dealer.  The dealer set up the stick with 2014Q2 makes for me.

Then once I got home with the stick, install was easy, no issues.  Just took a long time.

Sure glad I work with a good dealership, one that try to help.

All is Good Thank's :orange: :orange:

I had to change file name also. I did not wait 10 minutes of authenticating...But with name change it authenticated in less than a minute. I did have some trouble getting it to even know the update was there. I tried everything off and bar/shield screen, stick inserted before turning to accersory and stick plugged in after screen already up. Also turned regular on switch on and off. I really couldn't tell you what sequence got the "TRUNK" update but once it came up it was an hour of loading.
Then I did the 1.19.1.1 and one computer didn't like to accept it to desk top or any where else. Fired up lap top and took 30 minutes to download the zip file by wi fi. Copied to stick fast enough and maybe 10 minutes in was loaded from stick to bike.

The loading of the "Export Data" from the bike to stick took pulling out manual and fumbling around a few minutes too. But the toolbox worked fine both directions for upload and download.

Only question is how did you know to change name on .iso file? How did you pick name? or know correct name to give it?  I got some buddies with non-cvo bikes and can image the name would be different....

The only reason I tried changing the name was because
there was firmware update that was released by Harley
a few versions back that came out with 1 letter wrong in the name or it was missing the underscore. I don't remember which one.
It would not load so I said what the hell I'll give it a try and I used
same name from the firmware file because I thought that the infotainment system would recognize it and I guess I got LUCKY

I don't know when you did your download and update but I think that bug of not authenticating has been fixed.

My system is now in limbo. I said yes to the "trunk" prompt and started updating however I got a prompt that the usb download was interrupted and to reinsert usb. Starts over and gets back to the same spot and does the same thing. Now I can't even get back to the radio. It just keeps telling me to reinsert the usb. Whats my next option?

Download the 1.19.1.1 update and put that on the USB stick. When it prompts you, insert that one and let it run the update. Mine did the same thing and that's what fixed it.

With the iso on the usb it should find it and go to the updating screen and then load the update.

I'd like to try this again. heres what I did..
-open the Naviextras toolbox
-install usb with fingerprint
-after update I have 2 files (swdl.iso & synctool.TBver) & 1 folder (Navisync) on the usb stick
-install usb in bike to update

I get an unending authorization screen
Doing this all on Windows 7

Last time I changed the file name as suggested, I got the "trunk" message and it started to install but then got the reinsert usb message so I'm a little hesitant on trying that again

Well you have nothing to lose by changing the name you know how to fix it now. Hope it works for you. MJB did not say if he had to change the name the second time or not might want to check with him.

curious as to why swdl.iso does not work. You would think that naviextras would know about that

Did you download the map update as well---I know this is a dumb question, but I have to ask....

do the export from the nav system, bring the usb to the computer
login to naviextras
get both the system update and the map update onto the usb
put the bike into accessories and turn off the radio
turn off the bike, plug in the usb and turn the bike back to accessories, but leave the radio off
the radio will see the usb and authenticate after a short period of time...go get a coffee
when the radio turns back to the harley symbol turn the radio on
it will ask you if you wish to update, but there will not be a version number...say yes
go get a bunch of coffees, breakfast, take a shower...the update for me took over an hour but it worked. ;D

It's explained earlier in this thread. You basically have to send your radio info to a flash drive so Naviextras knows that you're downloading maps to a proper radio

Ugh, so frustrating. I've been messing with this all day. I got the fingerprint from the bike onto a 16 GB USB. Downloaded the new map update to the USB using the Naviextras toolbox. Inserted the USB into bike, and keep getting the unending authenticating cycle. I tried changing the swdl to swdl_boombox_6.5GT_CVO.iso, but then I get an error stating:  Error: NavSync_ErrorNotValid.  I give up. :(

You don't need to change the name. Make sure you load the new maps as well. Youll know because it takes quite a while to download onto the stick.

I did download the new maps. I did twice in fact. Once on the USB stick that came with my CVO, and again on a different USB stick just to try it again. Neither one worked. I gave up after spending 10 hours messing with it.

Just followed Chuck's (14CVOUltra) instructions and got it downloaded to the bike.  Stuck the USB (that came with the bike) in the bike to get the thumbprint, created an account with Naviextras and downloaded to PC, changed name on USB file to swdl_boombox_6.5GT_CVO.iso , stuck usb into bike and took about an hour.  (changed the name before I ever stuck in the bike) Thanks Chuck.

I'm not computer literate and have never used a GPS of any kind so it can be done.  Don't know why I downloaded the new maps, just wanted to see if I could do it I suppose.

From an old map reader.

Finally bought a usb drive for the nav update.  I read all of the guides and then proceeded with the update.

The biggest problem i had was that, since i have Satellite internet, which totally sucks, i am limited to how much data i have a month, 25G.

Ask anyone who has cable, FIOS, how much data they use a month, they would say What how much, no idea.

Anyway i have free zone, doesn't count for my monthly allotment, from midnight to 5 AM, this is when my computers update.

Attempting to download the maps, all went well for awhile, actually about 50% of an excruciatingly slow download  and then lost my sat signal, like losing your Sirius Signal.  Map updates does not like this.  In the morning i found this out, so navi won't recognize a partial download, said my usb wasn't connected.

So reformat the usb, get fingerprint from bike and prepare for the next midnight try.  Unfortunately the same thing happened on the 2nd night.

So reformat, get fingerprint and prepare for night 3.  As they say 3rd time is a charm.  Then took it to the bike and uploaded the new maps.

The downloading was the reason i had been procrastinating,

I updated my system tonight. My son, an IT guy, was home for holidays and he actually did it for me. He did want me to post that without the help from members regarding renaming the file it would have been a difficult, time consuming ordeal. As it was he changed to FAT32, renamed the file and it took 1 hr total. We did use a USB 3.0/16g thumbdrive and the download from internet was very fast.
So thanks guys, appreciate your help.

Well I am frustrated beyond words. I love my bike and I love Harley's in general. But this has to be the biggest pos set up I have ever seen. I read in great detail every post about this update and I am grateful to the members for their input. I read in detail the boom manual as well. Followed each and every step as closely as possible with no luck. If I don't change the file name it stays stuck in the authenticating mode. If I change the file name the bike says it is a corrupt usb.

Now I am a computer dumb ass but my wife is a computer whiz and she couldn't make this pos work. I am appreciative that members suggested changing the file name. But what infuriates me is nonwhere that I can find is that step suggested. I didn't see that step in the navietrax help guides, not in the boom manual or anywhere else. So if that step isn't listed what other steps were just over looked.

I have a great relationship with my dealer but they won't do the GPS updates only the radio. So we get 3 free updates over the next five years for having a CVO. And what good is that when you can't get the update or it takes you unlimited hours to accomplish what should be a very simple task.

Yes I am pissed cause this sucks!!!!!! Rant over

My only issue was my sorry ass slow sat internet, this caused me to have to attempt to download the maps 3 times, 3 separate nights because of my download data limitations.

I did not change the name of any files, i can't see where/why in this procedure it would actually be required, i just followed the steps.

My advice would be to make sure you start the download with a blank usb drive.   I formatted the usb drive between each attempt, i think the default format was fat32. I am using Windows 10 O/S,  I did not change any format default, just selected format and in about 5 seconds a 16G USB drive was formatted.

Then i took it to the bike and got the fingerprint, it never took more than 5 minutes to recognize the usb and export the finger print.

Then, selecting the North America Maps and downloaded, since my sat internet is so slow, i was using the 3.0 usb drive socket on my computer, i fell asleep and that morning i checked the computer and it said, i think, Ready to Install.

I then turned on the power, radio, accept, plugged in the usb, it took about 5 + minutes to finish hand shaking between the bike and the usb, i was a little concerned that my download may have been incomplete, corrupted or something but then it took off and started the update, which took at least an hour and 20 min.

I'd make sure my usb was formatted, no files on it, and try again, because i thought i might be able to pick up where the download stopped, but each time during my first two attempts at downloading and it stopping, the navi software said my usb/device and computer were not hooked up, so partial download, must start over ie reformat the usb.

Good luck.

Thanks so much for the step by step instructions. I (my wife) was able to complete the update because of your input. I guess we were not properly formatting......I guess? Thanks again.

Appreciate all of the exploring done by earlier adopters. Managed to sort this out without too many tears today. Note it was certainly not intuitive but went pretty much as follows:

1. Updated patch 19.2 ..whatever we are up to........ on a freshly formatted fat32 8gb usb as per previous patches
2. Exported fingerprint as per directions in manual/posts on a freshly formatted fat 32 16gb usb
3. Downloaded navi-extras onto desktop
4. Updated files on fingerprint usb. The navi-extras app was little help and luckily I was able to follow guidance from earlier posters. the key issue was to update both the base file and the US maps file which took about an hour to download and does not show up in the navi-extras software in any great hurry.
You have to wait for it
5. Loaded into bike using renamed iso file. Pretty straightforward again just some time required.
6. No problems took around an hour before Lucille declared all was ok & she was updated.

Will take Lucille out for a spin tomorrow and see what happens map wise.

Thanks very much for taking the time to write up your experiences and save me time, frustration & cuss words.

Cheers Tom

Hondo,

You have every right to rant - map updates SHOULD BE SIMPLE!  Harley didn't test this software. There is no other explanation. I too have the "Waiting For Authentication" forever issue on a 2016 FLHXSE that has 1.19.1.2 software installed. Naviextras says I have an update which it placed on the USB stick. Place the stick in the bike and you get "Waiting For Authentication" forever.

We should not have to rename files!

Harley software quality is terrible!

Pissed off in Frisco,

Clyde

Finally, I thought I would try again today. Downloaded the fingerprint from bike. Downloaded the new map from website. Put USB into bike, and for about an hour is just kept saying "authenticating." Pulled it out. put it back in. Walked away, came back, and looked like it had stopped doing anything. Just the radio was playing. So, I pulled the USB out and stuck it back in. Saw the famous "authenticating" and walked away. Came back a minute later and saw a screen asking me to make sure the ignition was in the ACC position. BINGO!  I clicked YES, and about an hour and half later all was uploaded. :)  I looked at the NAV around my home, however, and it doesn't even show a new Freeway that runs near my home.  I guess it wasn't completed until after Qtr 2 of 2014. Oh well, I'm as updated as I can be now. Harley really needs to make this easier.

I must be blind. How the heck do you download the bikes footprint to the USB stick?  I found a mentioning in the audio manual but can't make it happen.

Any advice?

To be able to install navigation updates, you will need to create a "fingerprint" of your system on a USB storage. To create a "fingerprint" follow the steps below:

Make sure USB stick is 16gb and formatted Fat32

0. Connect USB stick, press Home button.

1.Select 'Setup' menu.

2. Scroll down, select 'System Information'.

3. Scroll down, select 'Navigation'.

4. Select 'Export for update'.

5. Select connected USB stick.

6. 'Exporting data. Please wait...'

7. 'Export Complete'.

8. Press OK

9. Remove USB stick

10. Connect fingerprint to PC

Just did the update, had to change the file name. Without the help from this forum, it would have been impossible to figure out how to install it.

Thanks guys!

So how the heck does a name Change of the file happening?

I am trying but it tells me that I can't change the file name  :nixweiss:

Do you make a copy of the file, rename it, and then delete the original file?

Any help will be appreciated.

I will assume you are using windows. with the file on the USB stick
and still plugged in to the computer Right click on the file move down to rename change name click enter remove usb go to bike.

I ended up changing the name on the .iso from swdl to swdl_boombox_6.5GT_CVO.iso

Do this at your own risk it has worked for many but a few have had to
do a factory reset but that is also very easy.

All that info is in the infortainment system. Just read the owners manual that came with the radio and it will lead you to the screen that provides what you want to know.
I assume you have been to some of the screens before when you put in the HD supplied updates (not maps but software).

Maybe I am changing the name on the wrong file?  I get error messages as soon as I change it to the same string as yours and when I change back the system just "chugs".

When I look at the content on the USB stick I see three files.

1:NaviSync (I assume this is the original finger print from the Boombox system that I uploaded)

2: Swdl  (this is the Disc image File) and this is the one I changed the file name on. Is this the correct file or should I dig deeper?

3: Synctool. Looks to be. PDF of sorts.

I will assume you are using windows. with the file on the USB stick

I ended up changing the name on the .iso from swdl to swdl_boombox_6.5GT_CVO.iso

With the changed (longer file name) I get this message on the Boombox screen: The ISO image on the attached USB is corrupted or incompatible.

The file I am trying to change is on the opening page of the USB. It is only named Swdl. On the right it says type: Disc Image file 16,936 KB

Thanks for your help over the phone. Very appreciated.

Unfortunately my bike refuses to cooperate. Tried a few differed file names and then a complete reset. Nothing worked. Might be giving up and see if a dealer can help.

This is a really poor way to do updates. Did a update to my BMW GS (Garmin) GPS and that's plug and play. No mess no fuss

I have talked to several people off the site and there seems to be alot of confusion between the Navtrac Map Update and the HD software update.
The HD updates are the 1.19.2 or whatever and have nothing to do with the Map update. Just in case anyone is confused.
Use directions in this posting above and the maps install easily.
Use HD directions at Harley-davidson.com and the software updates install very easy.

Gave it another try today. First with the longer file name and as always no go.

Then I switched back to just swdl and it worked after just a minute or so. Half way done already. Loading as I celebrate with a beer  :drink:

do the export from the nav system, bring the usb to the computer
login to naviextras
get both the system update and the map update onto the usb
put the bike into accessories and turn off the radio
turn off the bike, plug in the usb and turn the bike back to accessories, but leave the radio off
the radio will see the usb and authenticate after a short period of time...go get a coffee
when the radio turns back to the harley symbol turn the radio on
it will ask you if you wish to update, but there will not be a version number...say yes
go get a bunch of coffees, breakfast, take a shower...the update for me took over an hour but it worked. ;D

Does it give a version anywhere?  I'm picking my bike up on the 26th and want to make sure they have it completely updated.  I already told them about 1.19.2 and they did that 3 weeks back.
Thanks

What I find amazing is that with a brand new 2016 FLHXSE the most uptodate navigation software on the radio (and on the  Naviextras website ) is 2Q2014 (which I presume is second quarter 2014). Doesn't  Harley / Naviextras have a more recent map database. On my Garmin 660 GPS I'm getting two or three full updates a year. On the Harley I'm getting 2014 software.

Don't worry, your Garmin is just as outdated as your bike. I update the Garmin I use in my work truck every time there's an update and there's roads that are three years old that still aren't on the maps.  :coolblue:

this post to share my experience;

I had the never ending "authenticating" message. I tried many times and followed the procedure by the book: didn't work. Changed the  swdl name for the long one: didn't work. When I when back the  swdl name and while the bloody "authenticating" message was displayed, I got a phone call on my usb connected cell phone.  The boom screen went to the phone page (contact ....) and stayed there when I did not take the call. The top left corner displayed "rtrn to swftupdt" which I clicked. The system when back to the "authenticating" page briefly and went on asking me if I wanted to update! Update lasted 1.5 Hours and was fine.

Thought this might help someone that has tried everything with no success.

I want to thank everybody on this thread for doing the legwork on this update.  It shouldn't be this difficult.

I plugged in my USB drive and got the ongoing "authenticating" message.  After a couple of tries I pulled the drive out to regroup.
I changed the file name as noted earlier in this thread and tried again.  Once the radio booted it IMMEDIATELY recognized the USB and asked if I wanted to "update to trunk".  I answered yes and the installation began.  It took about an hour.

Thanks again!

I agree. It should not be this difficult. It took me hours to get to the point where I could move beyond the authenticating message. It seems like a few relatively simple steps but... The download was about 1.5 hours into the process and it stopped - stick too small. Started over with a bigger stick. 2 hours or more later I had the update on a stick. Plugged into the bike 3 times before it recognized the update and offered the option to move forward. Didn't do anything different on all tries. simply pulled it out and re-plugged it back in. Go figure. It finished in just under and hour. I have yet to try it but I am hopeful!!

This forum and others experience here that helped a lot. Thanks to all for sharing the experiences.

That's what I needed an IT son - or at least someone younger than I ;)

I had a chance to be sure it worked. I was a bit nervous at first. I hit the nav button and it said "not ready". it worked fine after a minute. I checked the software and it is the database version and it was the one that was suppose to be installed.

Just need some warmer weather to break the new sled in.

Yes I ran into the same thing. I just did it last night. What I did was I used the file explorer to go into the download directory. I double-clicked the downloaded file there. When it comes up complaining at that point just tell it to run it anyway. Everything worked fine after that for me. I would mention the following things to keep an eye out for possible confusion:

1) After successfully installing the toolbox and running it. Make sure to allow it enough time to finish reading your usb stick after inserting into the PC.
2) Make sure you select for update the map updates that it should present to you as a found and available update. This will take time to finish.
3) You may need to change the name of one of the files as suggested in an earlier post to get it to move past the authentication.

My opinion is HD should have just sent CVO owners a USB stick for the first three free map updates. If they consider CVO owners some of their best customers (since they are giving them three free updates) this would have made them feel special, rather than what they likely feel after doing the update (which is pissed off).

Similar to the car companies who send out DVD updates after you pay for them. HD should just send out USB sticks. IMHO.

Good luck with your update.

I coincidentally had the exact same issue as 3mcam last night when I decided to do the update. Although I was able to complete the whole process from start to finish in a couple of hours, downloading the toolbox would result in the same corrupt file error after the download finished. It did this on a windows 10 laptop, so then I downloaded it on an XP laptop with the same result. Then I downloaded it using my Macbook Pro, put it on a USB stick and copied it to the windows laptop. The toolbox download evidently looks suspicious to virus protection etc. Probably because of whatever means they are using in the toolbox software to keep the maps from being used by more than one user. THEY want their money!

Anyway, the way around it for me was to simply go directly to the download directory and double-click on the file to force it to run from their. Then it will still complain about it being a program you may not want to run, but you can choose to override it and select run anyway.

I have been off of windows machines for several years now and just used a couple of my wife's laptops so that I could do this. Like I said it was a total of two hours, and actually this particular issue is really related to windows/virus/firewall whatever detection and not the download software. After getting past this it went smoothly. The problem is customers really just want the update and not all the hassle. Sorry for the long post. Hope it helps rather than hinders.

Thanks everyone. I didn't even consider going into the download file and run it anyways. I did and it has loaded. Now for the rest of the process.

Thanks again.

After seeing this thread, I did it the easy way. I got free updates (in writing) from dealer for life before purchase.
I call ahead. Go to dealership. Go across the street. Have a burger and a beer or two. Go back to dealership and check that they actually did update and I'm outta there. The best way to update as long as you can keep from spending a bunch of money while at dealer.

Now why didn't I think of that.

Probably didn't think of that because the dealer will likely really screw it up, or something else like scratch it while it is there. :o
