Seat fitment questions
« on: April 20, 2016, 08:55:40 PM »

Hey everybody, I'm trying to figure out what seats fit with out removing the passenger section chrome and rubber strips or if everyone just removes them and how you protect the fender at that point? I am still working on liking my stock seat😎 And unsure if I might buy a nice 1 up seat for me. I love the looks of the stock seat and it's actually pretty comfy as it breaks in, but I'm a big guy as in 320 lol. I definitely need a good 2 up seat, my wife hates the stock seat, to hard and narrow. She's not big buy the way. Any suggestions options appreciated!

My Corbin passenger pad fits over the stock fender strips. I run a Corbin Classic solo when it's just me on the bike.

According to Corbin their seats fit with the strips in place, so I ordered a dual tour:) I will update when it comes in.

Ah it depends which mustang seat you have,
I have the sport solo with separate pillion seat and you need to remove strips for the pillion seat to mount properly,  However a " one piece touring seat " from mustang may be different and might be more scalloped on the underside in which case the strips can remain!.

I used the Mustang vintage 2 piece seat on my 12 cvo Street Glide.  Worked perfectly with the strips. Never had any problems. . Stuart

Wife and I just did a trip to FL and back, (3500 mi. in 11 days). I love the looks of the stocker, but knew  my back couldn't handle it, so we bought a HD Sundowner. Fit over the strips, no problem. Looks like a sofa, but with the TP on, it's okay.

Mustang part no: 79356, which is the 11" pillion will not fit with the newer models without removing the strips, the instructions clearly state they need to be removed, otherwise there is a 3/16" gap at rear!.... Maybe you had a different or older model seat!.

Yep stu, that vintage seat 79600 is the same seat I have on my street glide right now,and is the best seat I've found, and yes the seat fits without removing the strips only because it's a single seat,
However If you then want to add the rear pillion to make it 2 up  which "1roadking" was inquiring about then the pillion seat part which I have just bought and fitted will need you too remove the strips.
It's no biggy though, looks better without the strips as it shows of the Flames more, and on mine I have just fitted soft rubber grommet bushes to the stock pillion seat underside to protect fender if I ever want to put stock seats back on.
Don't know why they don't do that from factory to begin with really, ...never really liked the strips anyhow,..can't go wrong with mustang I say :2vrolijk_21:
