their are heavy duty 412s and standard.i got the standard model.i am 240 and girlfriend is 160.they work well.heavy duty might make ride harder like stock shocks unless you are heavier than me.i wanted better ride and standard 412s worked for me.

I ordered the standard 412 Progressive shocks last week and they should be here on Friday. I am anxious to get them on the bike and see how they change the ride.

I have found the same terrible ride from the latest stock "low" touring shocks.
Not real bad 1 up @ 170 lbs with #12 adjuster knob.
Put my 150 lbs wife and needed to go to #22 and still bottomed in the medium speed sweepers if there are any bumps.

SO I FINALLY JUSTIFIED A SET OF ARNOTT "FOX SHOCKS" w/adj rebound.
Important: They more than happily gave me a 30 day 100% money back guarantee.

I installed them and the next morning my wife and I loaded down the bike for travel. Filled the tourpac w/rack bag and saddlebags and headed from the SF Bay Area for Portland Oregon (about 700mi)
It took about 15 mins of messing with air pressure/ride height while traveling down the freeway to get the ride from harsh (feel every bump as a jot) to plush (bumps are all but gone).

By the time we got to Portland I had developed 3 different settings.. 1) smooth high speed interstates, etc 2) spirited mountain riding 3) choppy roads.

It appears ARNOTT has developed their good idea into a great idea once they got the right shock with the right adjustability.

Works Performance Shocks, with dual rate springs easy to adjust when and if you decide to ride 2 up. Again, custom made to your bike, weight and passenger and not that costly.

This sounds like something that would have suited me better than the Ohlins I bought.

They are rebuild-able at a fraction of the cost of the O's should and I emphasize should ever need to be rebuilt. If anyone is buying or not call them and get educated at the very least.

I received my 13 1/2" Progressive 412 standard duty shocks yesterday and I only had a chance to take the bike for a short ride w/o a passenger and there is definitely more travel. I had other commitments so I wish that I would have had more time to put some miles on them.

I left them on the as shipped softest setting. I need to set the sag and also add a passenger for a true test.

Good to hear this.
I've been wondering which route to take with my (new to me) 2011 fltruse...

I put the WP on my '03 flsts/i a few years back....hands down, best money I ever put into that bike.

Call the people at WP and make them sell you the shocks, make them earn your business and then look for some kind of discount when you think you may be making a move.

I put a set of SuperShox on my 15 FLTRUSE and me and high maintenance absolutely love the ride now. They have unbelievable customer service, and a 30 day money back guarantee if you don't like them after 30 days, send them back and get full refund. It's great members are chiming in with options for shocks; that is why I told Skwatch make Works Performance sell you the shocks (educate you), make them earn your business and get a discount. That is my credo with any vendor selling product. They don't know what you know and you can listen and hear what they know or think they know for free, what a country.

Thanks, great idea!

Just got back from a 1200 miler...first real ride on the fltruse. Had an awesome trip and although I know some real shocks are in order, I must say this...a stabilizer bar is now at the top of the list for upgrades! Damn near chit myself a few times. I can't believe that HD can put out a bike that has this kind of an issue without addressing it in the factory!

Oh well...such is life. I still had an awesome time and love my bike!
Looking at an Alloy Art stabilizer unless someone can convince me that there are better ones out there.

I took a 50 mile trip tonight after installing a set of Progressive 412 13 1/2" rear shocks. We were 2 up and it definitely has more travel than the stock 12" air shocks, but they are far from an Olin or some other high dollar shock. I have them set on the 3rd position for 2 up riding.

Someone in an earlier post stated that they would be a noticeable improvement, but Olins would be a much better shock at 4 times the money. I would have to agree, but the $234.00 that I paid off ebay is a good improvement for the dollar. My girl friend noticed the difference almost right away as we were not bottoming out on most bumps or dips.

I would not pay 6 or 7 hundred dollars for 2 shocks, but the $234 they work good enough over stock.i cannot imagine a $500 improvement on the ride.if you think your air shocks were bad you cant imagine how crappy the new 12 inch lowered shocks rode.
