Engine Swap.
« on: October 12, 2016, 09:49:42 AM »

So what would be a possibility / feasibility of taking M8 installing it in to a 2010 CVO Ultra? Would be a nice retro fit don't you think?

IMO the M8 hasn't been proven yet and there are better alternatives available for engine swap for this year bike. I would also think there would be other costs in changing/updating that year bike to make it costly.

I don't think Harley will sell you a M8 as a crate motor yet anyway.

So, wishful thinking.

You would also have to replace the transmission and engine mounts.  There is probably more but  :nixweiss:

Then there is the oil cooling or water cooling system--depending on the motor you will need to use one.

6 grand for the engine, probably about 4 for the tranny (not shown as a stand alone unit).  i would think that there be more economical options.

If I was going to attempt this, I'd just wait for a wrecked '17 & use it as a donor.

I think they had to do some minor changes to the frame to get it in.

Probably better to sell yours and move up.  I doubt if the electrical harness is the same, mounts probably different, exhaust is definitely different,  what about the water/oil cooling system on the new bike...how you going to hook all that up without spending a lot of $$. I've always said, anything can be done if you have enough cash, but is it really worth it? I would just move up to get the motor, new suspension, and don't forget the infotainment system. blah, blah, blah.......... :o
