Value of stock 114 cylinders, pistons and cam?
« on: November 06, 2016, 04:34:13 PM »

My bike is going into the shop next week for the 117 kit. Does anyone have any idea what I could sell the stock 114 components for? My bike only has 1500 miles on it as of now. Thanks in advance.

That's a difficult question to answer since I think they will only fit M8 latforms.

I would think the after market vendors may have an interest so they can have bored cylinders already in stock to ship with their own upgrade kits currently under development.

My wild guess is $200.

Thanks for the wild guess! I figured their might be a demand for them since so many 107's are being sold right now.

See what they go for in the SE Parts Book and put them up on this site and Ebay. You never know.

BE SURE TO GET THE BOXES AND WRAPPINGS ...for your new stuff so you can safely pack them for shipping.

GOOD LUCK!!

the 117 kit on the M8 is terrific!

I test rode a 17 CVO Street Glide and I was impressed with the 114's power. I think I could get one with the 117 kit and be happy with the power. :nixweiss: It would be nice to have a warranty/ESP in my pocket for a change. If I see a paint combo I really like I may have to give it a try.

I don't know. Harley's showing the 117 at about 110HP and 118TQ with the stock headpipe. I'm guessing that Fullsac's pipe, good mufflers, TTS and a quality real dyno tune would add significantly to that. It'll be interesting to see those numbers.

That's what I was thinking. I don't plan on replacing the headers as of now (warranty) but will be in the future. I have installed the street cannons and also have a power vision tuner that I plan on installing when the headers go on. I imagine the power would be in the 120HP and 128TQ range all said and done.

That's right where my Ultra is and it's a very fun ride.

Big difference in ride-ability between the 114 and 117. Going from the 114 to the 117 didn't just seem like 3 cubic inches to my "butt dyno"..

Cam, Cylinders, Pistons, springs, pushrods.  Yes its for 3 cubic inches, the cam will provide a good power gain, and I have rode a 107 with the cam and its a big gain.  So with inches added it will be a bigger gain.

Seeing a bone stock 114 is 111 torque and 91 HP, just removing the ventilator air cleaner give 3 hp and 4 torque, which makes it 94 hp and 115 torque.  So with a better cam for torque and the more cubic inches I think 112 HP and 122 torque is easily achieved with the kit.  Maybe more.

Harley curve shows the big difference. above 110 TQ from 3k to about 5.2K with the 117 kit.

just removing the ventilator air cleaner give 3 hp and 4 torque, which makes it 94 hp and 115 torque.

Hey Dave,

What did you replace the ventilator with? Heavy Breather?

Hey Dave,

What did you replace the ventilator with? Heavy Breather?

This was from testing done by Jim at Illinois HD.  This was done on an M8.  Steve at Fullsac has proved this with the old ventilator on the twin cams.  Steve states the heavy breather produces the same or more power than no air cleaner.

Here is a post with the video,  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=109141.msg1408988#msg1408988

I do think I will be replacing the ventilator with the heavy breather on my 17.

Interesting! I wonder why power would improve with a heavy breather compared to no air cleaner at all? :-\
