Difference between 15 and 16 CVO Street glide
« on: July 03, 2017, 07:28:01 PM »

Just wondering if anybody can help me out. I'm thinking about selling my 15 CVO Street Glide for a 2016 CVO Street Glide. What's the differences between the two.
Thanks

Tire pressure monitoring on the 16, updated key fobs. Different colors.

I can understand an upgrade but a 15 to 16 doesn't seem worth it unless you are trading away high mileage. I would think a 17 CVO with the M8 would be the way to go for an upgrade. There are likely even some used ones starting to come on the market, especially if you wait until the 2018 line is introduced.

Best of Luck,

I would not go for a 16, when the 17's have lots of improvement over the 16.  The new M8 engine, better front and rear suspension.  The 17 has everything the 16 does.

If an 18 CVO road glide comes out, my 17 Street Glide will be sold.  I much prefer a road glide to a street glide.

Need more information.  Is this a brand new 2016 in dealer inventory?  Is there some reason you would rather have the 110 Twin Cam instead of the 114 M8 engine?  Do you have someone wanting to buy your 2015, or were you thinking of trading it in?

If this is a brand new 2016 in dealer inventory, you need to understand that it will depreciate a bunch the moment you sign the contract and ride it off the lot.  I have no idea what, if anything, Harley gives their dealers in extra incentives on carryover inventory, but if I were you I'd assume they get something.  There is about $7300 in gross profit built in to the MSRP price of the bike, before any holdback or other incentives.  I'd ask for at least $7000 off MSRP to help the dealer get rid of his old inventory.  Then you need to determine how you want to sell the 2015 and for how much.  If you trade it to the same dealer, handle it as a separate transaction from the purchase of the 2016 so you will know exactly how much you're getting for the trade and how much you're paying for the new one.  You will definitely make out better selling it privately versus selling it or trading it to a dealer.  Be prepared to be highly disappointed in how much that 2015 has depreciated.

I have two potential buyers coming this week to look at my 15. The only reason I'm looking at the 16 is it has only a thousand miles on it with a warranty at a great price and the prices on the 17 is just too high that I found used. There has to be more differences between the two besides the tire pressure indicator and keyfob. I heard the primary cover has been narrowed and bike lowered 1". I buy a year new old bike (one or two year old) every other year. I put on over ten thousand miles a year. I do not buy from dealerships, the markup is to much.

Thanks

The CVO street glides are the same height from the first year in 2010 to the 2017's.  The rear all have a 12" shock, so the height is the same.

Not sure if the 16 has the narrowed primary cover, I know the 17 does.

The 16 does have the narrow primary cover compared to the 15....Also I know the 17's have power saddlebag locks...not sure if the 16 had them.
