2010 FLSTSE Softail Convertible.
« on: June 14, 2017, 01:47:32 AM »

I am thinking of trading my 2014 R.K. CVO  for one of these at a dealer. They are asking $16,000 for it. The biggest question is how do these 110 motors hold up?  What should I look for? Reason for trade, want a lighter motor cycle. This bike is close to 100# lighter. Thanks, Dave

Hey Dave, if I was looking for a softail CVO (which I was during the past year) I would seriously consider this one...

This is a resale dealer in NC, he purchased the bike for much less and probably has some room to move on his reserve.

WRE4U, thank you for the link. Before I can buy anything, I have to sell my bike. There are a couple of bikes south of me I want to look at. Enjoy the summer. Dave

I have 43k on the ODO and the problem was the Stator went out last year at 41k - very happy with this bike and YES it makes riding more enjoyable because it has so much power and is light to move around.

Go for it

Just got back from a two week trip where my Convertible stranded me on the second day out because of a bad stator as well. Have 50,000 miles on it. About a year ago I was having electrical glitches but didn't strand me....Related? I don't know yet. Haven't had any other problems so not too bad.

Be sure to ride one  for more than around the block to make sure it is a good fit for you. I love mine and is a perfect fit for me but my husband hates it...To each his own! In case you haven't read up on these... 1) You will scrape running boards until you learn to compensate. 2) Irritating red glare line on windshield at night. 3) Oil cap can burn your thigh on longer trips. 4) Maybe it is the angle of the handle bars but clutch hand may take some getting used. After a long day it can really hurt. After 3 years I have managed to deal with these problems and love....love...love it. I can't imagine anything else I would want instead. My newest issue is that no heated grips are available!!! Trust me I have looked. My husband just bought me nice heated gloves and they are wonderful....So no issues now!!

My landlord has a 2012 in Blue with <4,000 miles unmolested and pristine, includes Corbin seat and stock seat for $15,000.

Hey noclue,
I bought my 2012 CVO Convertible new and also love the bike. I am nearing 50k on it. Although the engine needed rebuilt around 30k the service maintenance plan paid for it all except $50. Besides the aforementioned small issues  as you have probably heard the 110's do run a little on the hot  side. I would definitely recommend finding a 2012 instead of a 2010. There are a couple worthwhile upgrades made in the 2012. That 4k mile blue for 15k sounds like a good deal.
Since 2012 I now have a significant woman in my life and she is not overly impressed with the ride of the 2012 Softail on our long trips so we will be looking to purchase a 2018 CVO Road Glide after the new year. But I enjoy the Convertible so much that I will not be selling or trading it in.
Also it's a damn good looking bike!
