100,000 mile club.
« on: July 22, 2019, 09:26:13 PM »

At 99K my '06 CVO Ultra is knocking on the door of the 100,000 mile club. I'll be there in no time.

I'm just curious how many here have a CVO with over 100K on the clock.

Well I have several people to thank for that.

First "Wrongway" Dave King for selling me the bike. He took very good care of it.
Second and foremost "HD-DUDE" at Metal Dragon. He's done just about everything on that bike from major repair to maintenance.
Last and not least, my wife for not asking too many questions,....LOL!!!

Good one.  :2vrolijk_21:

It's not quite as bad as the exchange rate (32%), but close.  At least the difference in K's vs M's doesn't cost us anything like the dollars do.  :o

At that rate I'm surprised we're not seeing more Americans up here enjoying our beautiful countryside.

Have never owned a bike long enough to accumulate 100,000+ miles on one bike. Since 2004, I've rode 375,000+ miles on 11 different CVO's. Closet I've come on 1 bike is my Skunk that currently has 62,000.

Only changed lifters once, it's a CVO 103, not a 110. That's the reason I wanted an '06, just for the dependable SE 103 motor. The lifters were changed at 83K when HD-Dude rebuilt the motor. I kept it stock except for the .583 cam and the welded, balanced and pinned crank. Should be good for another 100K!

at 20k put some S&S premiums in … still sounds like a it did with the OE lifters
If your taking about a 110, put a 24D cam in and it will be as quite as a mouse

Milestone today, literally.

The 2006 CVO Ultra clocked 100,000 miles. Fittingly it happened on CA-1, The Pacific Coast Highway. No better place for this rider who calls California home. I was northbound just outside of Santa Cruz when the odometer rolled over at 2:31pm. I snapped a couple of pics and rode on.

I need to acknowledge a few people here. First and foremost "WrongWay" Dave King who sold it to me in immaculate condition with 52K on it. Actually I need to start by thanking the "Bovine Gigolo" Don Davis for selling Dave the '05 Teal SEEG so I could buy this '06. Next I need to acknowledge "HD-Dude" Jim Schloffel at Metal Dragon. Jim's excellent hands keeps it running in tip top shape in spite of what I do to it. I specifically bought the '06 because I wanted the CVO 103 motor. After hearing and seeing first hand all the 110s issues, I looked no further than this one. When I bought this bike my goal was to go between 80-100K miles before doing any engine work. I made it to 83K. I told Jim I plan to keep and ride the bike and dependability was number one. With his rebuild I expect to go at least another 80K. The bike shows it age and wear well. Some of the chrome is pitting, and there are a few nicks and scuffs on the paint. But all in all that's not really much I can complain about.

Special thanks to Alan Paz, John Shimada, and James Clegg who logged a lot of the same miles side by side with me. Their brotherhood means a lot to me.

Oh,...the last time I asked how many members have a CVO with 100k on the clock, a lot of you replied with your aggregate total,...LOL!!

So I will ask again: How many here have 100K on their CVO? And I'm talking 100k on ONE bike.

First post , long time member.....  My 2009 Street Glide just rolled 151,000 miles on the odometer. 60 K since the motor was rebuilt( crank runout on sprocket side). DD7 transmission for the last 8,000 miles. Runs so good I hate to think about getting a newer ride!  I love this forum. Thank You!

Made a trip to near Dallas to see Carol Burks and had him install the front cartridges.  He sent me the rear shocks in March and I installed them myself.  Before I left, he checked the rear shocks and fine tuned them and replaced the spring because he thought it was too heavy. He put in a lighter one and what a nice difference.  The bike now floats and eats up the curves. Then I spent 5 days in the Ozarks "testing" them out.  During this trip I turned 100,000 miles on my Road Glide. Love that bike and will continue to ride it until I can't.   (posted this in several different areas of the website, please disregard if you have read it before)

Think this thread is for 100K on one bike.

Never put that many on one bike, if I kept a bike 4 years I would.

My wife has over 100K on her 2009 Heritage, it had 90K on it in 2012, took many years after that to hit the 100K.  She had had 6 bikes since, all with over 40K when traded.

Love that bike and will continue to ride it until I can't.   (posted this in several different areas of the website, please dis-regard if you have read it before)

Followed a similar path as you. Made the run to see Carol to replace front cartridges and while we were there he reset the rear Ohlins. Great guy to deal with and knows suspensions. From there we made a run to Colorado. Looks like we have a pair of the 09 roadies on this thread. Now if we can get an orange bike in the mix.

Dave and Chris, Congratulations to you both. That's a lot of miles.  But the 09's are the best bikes!!.  Dave, I agree, it would be neat to get an orange one on the board as well.

Damn guys!  I use to think that the 200K plus miles I've ridden on all my bikes collectively was good till I red this thread!  Nice to see these bikes going strong at those miles, keep it up!

This happened 4 weeks ago. With not being able to go south in the last 2 years has slowed me down from hitting this mark. I also have another 18 000 KM in the last 10 years on 2 other bikes I have soooo. Not bad for the last 10 years. My scoot is on it's 3rd motor, no mercy. Ride it like you stole it. ;D. I have about 50 000 KM on the last motor and had S & S lifters installed about 20 000 km ago. Yes, almost time for lifters again, lol.

Kind of related to this thread, so I'll add this here.

There's a fellow out of Texas attempting to ride his Harley 100,000 miles in 100 days.  I haven't seen a recent post that lists what day he is on, but he is over 30 days.

He is raising money for a Muscular Dystrophy charity.

His Facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/chris.hopper.108

His Spotwalla tracking page:

He's a pretty cool dude.  We both rode the Iron Butt Rally this summer, finishing 23rd and 24th.

It looks like he surpassed 40K in 40 days over the weekend.  I only know of one person stringing more consecutive days together, and Hop should eclipse that by the end of the week (45K in 45 days).

That's great!  But no Provinces?  What's up with that?   :nixweiss:

As you can see my ride has been in all 10 Provinces and all 48 lower States.  Unfortunately we have not been able to enjoy riding south of our border for the past 2 seasons.  Looking forward to when we can again.

Take care & ride safe,

He surpassed 45K and on the day that he did, his riding companion was the gentleman who rode 45K in 45 Days.  Today, he was riding in uncharted territory.

I see I didn't follow up on this after he completed his ride.  Chris completed 100,000 miles in 100 days, and it was certified by the Iron Butt Association.

I don't know who, but I have heard that someone is already planning an attempt to break the record.  I've been watching for further info on that one, but it seems to be not so public.

That is a lot of miles in a short time.

The bike has been flawless. Motor oil changes every 6-7k miles, then trans/primary every other time. Everything internally is how it was from the factory aside from the cam and lifters, but even those have about 97,000 miles on them. In December I'm gonna take it in for the "50,000" mile service items just to get some things freshened up. Still has the same brake fluid and everything.

Congratulations, man where do you ride.  That's great.  Keep it up.

Thanks! My wife and I have been with the same company for a while. We've built up quite a bit of vacation time and use it all on bike trips. Also, we work 12-hour days early in the week. Because of that we are off every Friday through Sunday, with rotating Thursdays off. So 3 and 4 day weekends, every weekend. That's plenty of time to take some road trips without even using vacation time.

So far for 2022 we've ridden almost 44,000 miles. The bike has 108,500 miles now.
