Looking at buying a '20 Road Glide Limited but before I do I have a question...is there a suspension difference between a '19 CVO RG and a '20 RG limited? I am looking for a nice ride since the wife will be on the back of whatever I buy. I can add a TP to the CVO, so that is not an issue. The 20 has 18" wheels which I am pretty sure will take bumps better than the 19" on the CVO. My '15 CVO street glide takes the bumps pretty hard with the stock suspension, especially 2Up. Not looking for the same ride as that...rode the limited and it seems to soak up the bumps better than my SG.

Thoughts?

Update--I just read that the 2019 CVO Road Glide has a 21" front wheel...I think that will make it worse and I am probably going with a Limited......anybody agree?

I'd look hard at a 19 RG Ultra vs. a 20 LTD. Gain a little, lose a little. You'll spend a bunch to get some of the extras that the CVO includes but still be way ahead. Sadly I can't give a 2 up report but the stock seat was ok for 1. BTW, hopefully the oil transfer thing is over. Had mine fixed 1500 ago and all's good.

The ‘20 RG Limited comes with 13” rear shocks where both the ‘15 CVO SG and ‘19 CVO RG come with 12” rear shocks. The front suspension on the ‘15 and ‘20 should be the same but the ‘19 CVO RG is slightly different to accommodate the 21” front wheel.

Front suspension changed again in 17 when the M8 came out. Even better than the 14-16 front forks.

If you're not worried about those, then look for a '20.  Rear shocks can always be changed. Ultra or Limited has a more comfy seat over your SESG also. Put T on the back and take her for a ride and see what she thinks.

I think mainly it's the impact of hard bumps which is due to the 21" front wheel (19" on mine) --less tire and more rim makes it hit harder. The Limited has an 18" which gives more tire to absorb the hit. Stock seat on the limited is nicer for long rides as opposed to needing to change the seat on the CVO RG. I changed the seat on mine as well. Didn't know about the doors next to the forks--Thanks. As for color, I am really liking the Zephyr Blue/Black Sunglo on the '20 which is what started this.....

Been keeping an eye on this...the color you like looks great in the pictures. Looking at the price, options, color and less exclusivity the CVO line has garnered these past few years, your choice is sound.

I agree with all your reasoning but you sure have a purdy scooter to trade...that color combo on your '15 SESG is one of my favorites.

Not trading the '15 SESG.....I love that bike......Wife does not ride her 09 Softail Deluxe the last few years and the dealer is giving me decent money so I am using that as a trade plus some cash.  I will keep the Limited for 2UP and leave the SESG solo.

I should have read your original post a little better and caught it was the 19 CVO RG,  Yes, there is not much tire.

My 19 CVO RG lack of rubber on the tire up front is not much worse than the 13 CVO King with the 19.  However the King rides and handles way better due to 13 inch Ohlin shocks in the rear for more travel and better bump dampening.  The Front is Legends Axeo which really handles the bumps better.  I will probably up grade the suspension on the RG, then the front will be closer to the King, but not quite as good.

Congratulations on the new RG Limited.  Make them throw in a Heal Shifter.  I know the lower vents do not close, for some its a big issue, for me it would be no issues, I have never closed them on my last three road glides, I ride year round into the 20's.

I rode the 19 CVO a couple and both time thought it was terrible like ridding a solid rubber tire. I would thing the limited with the touring suspension would be much better.

what kind of helmet do you wear?  I haven't had this bike over a winter yet, but I did get caught in a monsoon rain storm and before I shut the lower vents, water was just being blown right into my face.

Thanks. Now I am just waiting for the bike to arrive....as for the heel shifter..its one of the first things I remove whenever i get a new bike.

So while I am waiting for the new bike...I found a 2016 CVO RG Ultra with ABS for $23K with 3,000 miles on it in Grey/Black. Wondering what to do...I could add the new radio and even some motor work and still not be at the cost of the new bike. Already has the heated seat and grips as well as better factory bars than the '20. Also looks to have exhaust done already as well...…now I am confused....damn internet!

So who will talk me out of the CVO and tell me to get the '20 Limited? May be safer with a 110 with some work than a new M8??

I have to say the grey/black 16 cvo RG  is most likely the best bike HD ever put out  don't forget has a CB also but no apple car play. I haven't seen any thing yet that will get me to move off it.... yet

If I go that route I would replace the radio with the newer version....considering I saved all that $$$$

If you ride them both I think you may lean towards the M8. My 18 RG is the best Harley I have ever owned let alone ridden.

Dealer has a '20 RG Limited on the floor.. I guess I'll go look at the vents.. I never close mine anyway... I'd miss them if they were gone. its too damn humid and hot this year to NOT have them...

Looked at the '16 and passed on it. Owner didn't take care of it and had lots of peeling chrome, etc. Waiting for the '20 to come in. Sometime in Nov or Dec.

Sidewall discussion on tires is way overated, Have you looked at cars in the last few years? Sidewall or aspect ratio has been getting shorter forever and new cars ride just fine. One poster on this listing even said taller sidewalls handle better? Wonder why vehicles that are made to 'handle" have short sidewalls?
And the hill hold feature, Our new car has it. I LOVE it, stop, take your foot off the brake and vehicle sits there until you give it gas to drive off. Great deal. The other is soon coming to bikes, smart cruise control. Our car has that as well. I entered Smokey Mountains last friday morning and turned cruise on at 45mph. I never touched the brakes or gas pedal again until we got to Gatlinsburg. At times we were running 10 mph behind slow traffic, once almost stopped as car in front suddenly turned into turnoff, but we slowed, accelerated as needed, I like technology.

I agree with everything you posted except about tire sidewalls. The reason low profile tires sell and are used on some new cars is STYLE. Not function. As we know, style sells. On a motorcycle you want some sidewalls for cornering. They also serve as a shock absorbers and, should you pickup a nail, margin of safety before going down to rim.

Those auto dimming high beams are something I can do without and don't use them on the wife's car or my new Ram. Just seems like they're too sensitive to the reflections off of road signs and such. Her car has a button to activate, the Ram you have to leave the turn signal stalk pushed forward and activate through the radio. I'm not crazy about the extra reach to the TS stalk for as little as I drive at night.

I disabled the auto high beams on my truck as soon as I found out it had them. The hill holding feature on the bike may be cool.....who knows....I did do without it all these years.

The reason for a lot of these changes is to make it easier to ride therefore expanding the pool of possible customers.

I love the Auto wipers, auto lights, auto High beam, and adaptive cruise on my Pickup.  Have all that on my wife's range rover also, and love it.

Do not have it in my Corvette, and thats fine as The corvette is for driving pleasure, has a 7 speed manual also.  My truck is to haul the boat and to get me to the heliport.

My wifes New Jeep has all the latest Tech. Auto wipers and dimming high beam, Adaptive cruise as well as "Lane departure assist". The problem is she has become dependent on it. She doesnt want to drive her Camaro anymore  because she has to "pay attention" and "steer herself". That to me is scary and its caused more than one discussion.
