I like the steel liners for the basket they supply. Stock clutch feel and same throw as stock. The aluminum baskets gets notchy on these performance builds. Next thing remains to be seen if the splines hold on the basket.

Great job to all involved,  nice build.

I agree on the aluminum baskets getting notchy you could see very slight notches on my basket, with 22K miles on the bike with the only modification being a headpipe and tune.

Rides very well, Joe and I were on a road the other day with nice curves and hill.  You could leave these two builds in 4th great run down as low as 2000 rpm and up to or above 2500 rpm, never shifting and feeling great.

Dave, my 128 big bore build with headwork will finally go to the Dyno and get tuned using SAE this coming Wednesday.. I took off the FM header and put the DD Billet cat on over the weekend and also took off the FM ventilator extreme and replaced it with the new H-D extreme after You showed it worked on our bikes... I will be happily releasing my before and after chart this Thursday or Friday along with my build sheet.... I’m thinking 140Hp and 155-160 TQ.... Not as awesome as your build, But I’m sure I will be smiling 😎

Sounds like it will be very nice.  I look forward to the results.

I think the new Extreme heavy breather has a little more leg room the the factory little heavy breather do to bend of the elbow.

Did my break-in oil change yesterday.  Oil was very clean and not a thing on the drain plug.  The more I ride this the more I love it.  Easier to ride then stock and smoother.

So I wanted to give a shout-out to Dave, and also to Don at HD Street Performance.  When I first read this thread about Dave's 130" build and the numbers he achieved, I figured I'd see if I could do the same build and get the same results.  So I sent a PM to Dave, who quickly and graciously replied and gave me the specs he used and the contacts I'd need to copy his build.  I called Don at HD Street Performance and he couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating.  Don sent me the pistons and cylinders, he has ny stock CVO heads, working his magic on them as I write this.  My local builder is a mechanic at our HD dealership, but also specializes in high-output engine builds and has his own dyno, so he'll be putting everything back together once the heads and other parts arrive from Don.  I'll gladly share my results once the engine is tuned.  But I wanted to publicly thank both Dave here on the forum, and Don at HD Street Performance, for their help with this project.  You guys both ROCK!!!

Looks like some serious power! How is the street ability of these huge power motors? I have a built 117 twin cam and it’s tough to keep it smooth on a bumpy road or in slow moving traffic.

A properly designed and built big power motor should not be hard to ride in traffic or any other situation.  I have a built 117 inch twin came, 138.5 HP and 140 torque.  Easier to ride and smoother than stock.  All the parts are matched to work well together, compression, cam and pipe along with heads.

I now have 3000 miles on my 130" build.  Same people who helped pick and match parts for my 117 helped put this ones parts list together.  The compression is set for the cam we choose, the pipe is know for good low end torque, the heads were set up knowing which cam and compression.  Everything matches again.  The motor is very smooth.  Easy to ride, never had an issue in traffic or a group ride.  It is not jerky or abrupt.  Power come on smooth, there is just lots and lots of it. Only way I can see it being hard is grab a hand full of throttle at 3500 rpm, it will jerk you then.  But again I have done a few group rides on some tight twisty mountain roads, and the dragon, bike is easy to ride and smooth.

Biggest mistakes people make in builds is head pipe or mufflers or both with out enough back pressure, they lead to a big torque dip in the 2000-3000 range where most people ride, this means throttle response is not smooth.  The other mistake is cam and compression are not properly matched.

I'm not an expert.  I do have a good friend who is great it doing this stuff.

I exploded my compensator, I see you used recluse clutch. What about the compesator?
I spent a couple months researching my build, with the help of a great friend Joe.  I also spoke several times with Don at HD Street performance.  I also followed Darens posts on HTT on his step by step build with the CR-482.  I was suprized by the power it makes, Brandon the tuner was also.

My build is:
S&S black granite cylinders, punched for 130 by Don
Mahle pistons for 130, coated by Line to Line
Heads done by Don at HD Street Performance set for a 12.1 to 1 with a zero deck height.
HPI 62 throttle body and intake with 6.1 injectors
SE adjustable rockers
SE adjustable push rods
CR-482 Cam
2020 HD 8 lobe oil pump
S&S lifter cuffs
HD extreme Heavy Breather
Recluse Torque drive clutch
Fullsac Head Pipe and 2.25 baffles with tech mat and screens.

I'm Still on the stock compensator.  So far it seems to be okay, no strange noises.  Yes, I'm pretty happy with the Rekluse torque drive clutch.  I have over 8000 miles on the build now.

The boys at Dark Horse just came out with a "Man of War" comp sprocket that's I have heard is the cats meow! Although I only have around 12k miles on my newest SE comp sprocket. When the time comes, I will be going to "Man of War" Motorsprocket.

I am really pleased with the work they did on my flywheel, they do great work!

Yesterday I hit 10,000 miles on my build.  More I ride it the more I like it and am impressed with it.  I have done a couple 700 mile days on it, half interstate at 80 and half 2 lane roads.  Performed flawless, I have done a large group ride on the BlueRidge Parkway, again no issues, rode in the rain, just be careful with your right hand.  It I road it in the 90's and it does get a bit warm on the right thigh.

In AR had to run a couple tanks of 89 and it did fine.  The bike is a pleasure to ride, will spin back tire with ease if your not careful.

I know there is plenty of power to break parts like belts and 3rd gear and so on.  I do not do burn outs, I do not shift low gears at wide open throttle, or abuse my bike.  That said I do ride it hard, and I do use the power.

It has a bit more power than I was aiming for, but that said, this bike is just so much fun, easy to ride and smooth.  I'll be taking another trip on her next week.  You can build a motor and ride it all over the place or tour on it.
