Cvo backrest
« on: July 04, 2020, 09:45:11 AM »

So this is the first time this happened. We went for day ride yesterday, 400 miles. Towards the end of the day my lower back started to get sore and this morning it is really sore. I have a 16 sg and was wondering if those of you with the cvo backrest if that would help. I don't want a new seat cause I like the look of it and I don't find it uncomfortable.

Thanks

Yes order one.  Just get the bracket from them.  Get the pad from harley.  I hated the one they sent. I picked out one from the catalog and it's much more comfortable.     Stuart.

I have their short backrest and it pushes me too far forward with the pad from HD that matches the seat on my '12. They have a taller bracket for taller riders also.  A buddy of mine has the same bike and He's 6'7" tall. He had ordered the taller setup and they sent Him the short one by mistake so they corrected it by sending Him the taller one and didn't want the short one back. He sent it to me. I'd love to use it but I think I'm going to have to do something to it to let me sit back a little more. Just info in case you're a taller rider so you don't run into what I did. FWIW, I'm about 5'11" tall.

Thanks OBB. I am also 5'11 so not sure which hit to go with. Also have that fear of being pushed to far forward cause I sit farther back on the seat. Thinks to consider I guess

I was able to lean back on it.  Made a big difference.   With a better backrest pad, it seems pretty good.   Stuart.

Makes a huge difference in comfort. Once I put mine on I never took it back off except to clean the bike.

Look at the Rider Backrest that Mustang sells.  I have one on my '05 SEEG since day one and it is fantastic.

I'm pretty sure the mustang must be used with their seat. The cvobackrest.com is made for the hd 2piece seat.  Those appeared on 2012 and newer cvo's. Stuart

I own two Bad Boyz backrests  (CVObackrest.com). They work great if you own a bike with separate rider and passenger seat.  When you call the owner George answers the call.    Great company and service from an American Company

I'm 6'-5" and 240 lbs. I never could get used to the backrests.

They also seemed to make mounting and dismounting the bike a bit of a chore. (At 69 I'm not as flexible as I used to be!)

Also, if your roads are a crappy as the ones here in PA, it's like getting punched in the kidneys repeatedly, every mile!

I went with a kidney belt from a dirtbike shop and have been happy since.   :2vrolijk_21:

As always, YMMV.

Cheers,
Smoketown

I do not ride with out one.  I been using this since it came out.  All 3 bikes have a rider back rest, makes it so much more comfortable.

I would get one.  I slouch when I ride, 1hr or so into a ride and my back is killing me, with a backrest I have no pain at all.  Plus with the back rest it enable me to put my feet on my highway pegs and brace myself against my back and lift my rear off the seat slightly for when the bloodflow isnt quite what it should be.

Mustang will work with an HD seat.  I have the Sundowner seat and it works fine.

What size pad have you guys gone with? I have a passenger backrest that doesn't get used, could I take the pad off that or should I get the small pad?

Go with something that seems comfortable to you.   They just bolt on with 3 screws. Look at the the parts catalog.  There are several to choose from. Stuart.
