I had the chance to test ride a 2020 Goldwing. I can summarize my ride this way: fast, smooth, and responsive. By every measure a great bike, the very same way a Honda Accord is a really good car. Admittedly it will (in all likelihood never give you a problem) but I love it the way I love my toaster.  I came away with the heartfelt feeling that the Goldwing lacks a soul. IMHO it just doesn't do anything for me.

Couldn't agree more, the only thing I would change in your statement would be air fryer for toaster!  These bikes do seem to have a soul about them

I find it interesting when people attach a personality or soul to an inanimate object. I wonder if it's more a result of our upbringing and personal experiences and memories. We attach more loving feelings to what we are familiar with, equate with family memories or advertising/society hype.
I'm sure those owners of other brands or styles of bikes are creating happy memories with their families and enjoying the motorcycling experience.
Is the experience more about the image we think we are presenting or recreating or the simple joy of motorcycling?  :nixweiss:

Technology versus tradition, no comparison! Comparing these to the 2015 Road Glides we had is like comparing a Ferrari to a Volkswagen!
I still have 3 Harleys for the fun but not for touring.

Isn't it great that we have different choices of bikes. All have our reasons for riding the ones we do. In my case I knew when I finally bought my first bike it was definitely going to be a Harley. There was no second choice. To me it is (as some have stated) the image, history, culture, clothes and the comradery that these bikes bring. Being at rock and country concerts that a band member rides out on a Harley just added a extra kick to the show. Even in music videos, alot of movies and TV series the bike of preference is HD. I wanted to be able to share a part of it. Being able to work on my bike and customize it is fun. Most Gold wings that I see are left stock. Their choice.
I have friends that ride these Hondas and we rib each other about our bikes all in fun. I am sure they (metrics) are great bikes but just not for me. As far as the "technology" on the bikes I couldn't care less about that. I don't need a windshield that goes up and down, infotainment systems, the new handling system ect. Just more things to go wrong........JMO
I will still wave no matter what bike you ride..   lol

I bought the 2019 Goldwing, it's a DCT. Up until last year I swore I'd never own a GW but the arthritis in my left fingers made me think again. I just found it too painful to use the clutch so I bought a bike with an automatic transmission. The GW is A great bike in many respects but I do miss my CVO - a-lot.
