2017 FLHXSE- Shudder while riding
« on: December 27, 2020, 06:43:27 PM »

I experienced shuddering while riding today. Started all of a sudden after stopping at a gas station. It almost feels like riding on those rumble strips.  I can feel the shudder/vibration in the throttle, seat, and the rear of the bike.  The shudder goes away if I pull in the clutch and let it coast.  I tried pulling in the clutch and giving it some throttle.  Didn’t feel the shudder as much at that point.  Worse while in gear (1 through 6).  Felt like shudder would decrease if the rpm was above 3400 to 3500.  Any advice/help?

Shudder can be caused by many different things.
But if I stopped for fuel and the Shudder started after that, I would be thinking crud on a spark plug , water in fuel,  slipping clutch or maybe a loose belt.

Dealer had the bike for almost 4 days and found out that the rear tire was cupping in certain places.  Changed the tire under extended warranty.  Checked bearings and all other places which could be loose.  Found nothing wrong. After getting it back from the dealer, rode the bike twice on some short rides and there is no vibration now.  Hope the problem is fixed.
