Sell my 2009 to buy a 2020? Yes or No and why. Thank you
« on: January 03, 2021, 11:07:59 PM »

I have a 2009 SERG that I bought new in 2008. I love the bike and it has very low miles on it. I don't love the look of the 2020 but I have the money to upgrade and Ive been offered a good price for my 09. looking for opinions / suggests .

I have an '09 Orange and Black SERG that I bought new too.  I like the '09 very much, but there are a few things that I would like that the newer ones have, Infotainment for one!  New suspension. M-8. Etc.

You say you've been offered a good price for you.  How much?  I might be interested in selling mine this next summer and wondering what is a good price.  I have 22k miles on mine and it's in great shape with de-Catted header pipe, Fulsac baffles, TTS Mastertune, chopped tourpak, Corbin seat with rider's back rest and their tourpak pad and armrests.  Stock other than that.

Good luck with your choice.  IF I had the money extra, I would probably upgrade.

Brian,

That is an excellent price especially, congrats. Looks like the 09 SERG are maintaining their value.

Hey Brian, go to your local dealer when the weather permits and take the 2020 of your choice for a ride. In my case there were no CVO's on the floor so I took a Road Glide Special for a ride. If you absolutely love it enough to place your order, like I did, then the next question is what are the numbers with and without your possible trade in. Let them tell you what the numbers are and then you can make an educated decision. Things like can I afford to buy the new bike if I choose to move up without trading my 09, or will you even ride the old one once you get your new one dialed in to your liking, or should I retail it and pay myself? Once you have all of the facts then only YOU can make the right decision.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Brian, think twice about selling it.  Sleep on it, then think twice more. Ask yourself why you want to sell it.  It looks like you're only putting about 3500 miles a year on it.  Is it worth the money for a new bike? Or is it a want?  Nothing wrong with either. Just know the answer.  Might be better to put some money into new lifters and keep on riding it. Several of us have over 100,000 miles on them and wouldn't trade them for a newer one.  The newer ones are not without problems either.  Good luck with your search. Whatever you decide, just continue to ride.

My $.02, my brother has an O/B 09 SERG, and IMHO it’s the one of the best looking RG’s on the road.  To me the 09’s and the ‘13’s are the two of the “keeper” model years. Here’s a pic taken in May, my SEEG, his SERG, and my dad’s 03 RK:

I looked but didn't see it. is it a dealer selling the bike?

That particular Harley dealer was one of the ones "terminated" by Harley along with Lethbridge Harley, Kane's in Calgary and Yellowhead Harley in Edmonton. All of these dealers are taking in consignment HARLEYS and other brands. Once the sell off their Harley products will be selling after market parts etc.

You may be able to buy one of their last Factory Harley they may have. However with seller!s market for bikes they may sell for higher.p

Love my 09 and cant imagine trading it for something sitting on the floor now. Freshen'd up the motor with T'mans 113 and love it even more.

I’d keep your ‘09 SERG... if I had one I wouldn’t be parting with it at all... .The new technology is definitely nice to have, but personally I wouldn’t be buying a new touring bike till the MoCo introduces the new frame/mono schock design..... gotta be getting close. Wouldn’t be surprised if MY 22 we see it

Disclaimer: I have no affiliation or personal ties with the Pool Boy  ;D

I have a 2009 SERG that I bought new in 2008. I love the bike and it has very low miles on it. I don't love the look of the 2020 but I have the money to upgrade and Ive been offered a good price for my 09. looking for opinions / suggests .
