2021 CVO Paint Problems
« on: March 14, 2021, 09:20:05 PM »

Curious to find out if anyone else has had or heard of issues with paint on their 2021 CVO bike?  Had my 2021 CVO Street Glide 5 days and the paint is flaking off the tope edge of the fairing where if meets the windshield.  Found a video of a new owner of a 2021 CVO Ultra Limited on YouTube who has clearcoat peeling off the fairing after a month of ownership.  I have had two previous CVO bikes and 05 and 10 and never had any issues with either one.  You all know the prices for a CVO and after this my confidence in the new 2021 models is at a low point with less than a week of ownership with the new 2021.

I know this is an old thread...just curious what color paint you're having issues with? I've had my 2021 bronze armor since April with zero paint issues. Hope you get it sorted out

ANy paint issues 100% send it back to get new parts. They should send new from the factory and easily swap it out. I purchased my 15 CVO Street Glide and it had a fingerprint in the corner of the tank. I didnt want to make a big deal of it and bother the dealer so I let it go. Looking back I wished I did. It is not a big deal for the factory to send new painted parts, your CVO bike should be perfect.

I have had paint issues on my 2021 CVO.  I have the Royal Purple and Black limited and bought it new from the dealer.  My first issue was the comm unit never working, which I didn't have time to take to the dealer that is a few hours away.  I was leaving headed on a long ride and figured I would just get it looked at at my stopping point.  I took my bike in to have them check the headset and adjust the passing lights to work when the high beam was on.  When that dealer brought the bike out, there was a quarter-sized chip in the fairing that went to the plastic.  That chip continues to spread the more I ride.  I have also noticed the same chipping on the right saddle bag.  Most recently, the saddle has started tearing at the stitching.

The paint and headset were warrantied by Harley a few months back .... I still haven't gotten the replacement or any updates.  The saddle I will be going to see them in a day or so.  I sent pics to the warranty guy there without a response.

My 2021 Royal Purple and Royal Black paint is so soft i can scratch it with a microfiber cloth?  Faring, tank, front fender, lids to the bags and tour pack.  Now I got this as a HD Executive Demo with 3500 miles  in January of 22. Living  St. Louis its not quite riding season and its due in 3oo miles for its 5k service.  I'll be brining all this to their attention!!    >:(

My 2019 CVO paint started peeling around the Fairing vent out of no where.

I bought a new on on ebay that was brand new in the box....Harley wanted $300+ for it.  I paid $89

I don’t have paint problems on my 21 Bronze Armor but I will say the painted metal parts (fenders and tank) do not match the plastic parts. There’s a distinct difference.

A local friend had the paint come off his 21 street glide as well. On the fairing and tank down to the base coat. Looked like adhesion problems.

What exactly do you want them to do after you bring it to their attention? You shouldn't be wiping the paint with a dry microfiber anything. ALL paint will scratch if dry wiped.

Please don't wash your bike with a rag, Micro-fiber or cotton. Use a Dedicated Micro-fiber wash mitt. Micro-fiber rags come in hundreds of blends for many different applications. A bag of Cosco or Sams Micro-fiber rags are not for washing a clearcoat painted surface, wet or dry. Most cheap M/F rags are not for use wet and yes they could scratch.
