131 crate vs 131 kit
« on: May 09, 2021, 12:30:42 PM »

Which is the better way to go? I see several members here getting amazing results with the 131 kit. I don’t know if this is the 131 kit exactly as sold or some some changed parts like different cam, additional head work etc?

I haven’t seen anyone post that has put in a 131 crate.

I plan on using the fullsac header as well as their cores as per recommended on here. And the Harley tuner to stay warranty compliant.

But I really don’t know which is better. Better for reliability, power?

Thanks

Any headpipe other than the Euro4 will void your warranty even if you use the HD Tuner. Your dealer may honor any problems you have. If you are on the road traveling and have an engine issue as long as the servicing dealer doesn't notice the Fullsac headpipe you'll probably be ok. If they notice the non OEM headpipe your drive train warranty will be flagged.

Unless something has changed the 131 crate is not available in Granite. When I upgraded my ‘19 CVO SG I went with the kit because I wanted everything to match.
As for reliability, I would think if you have a dealer that you trust to do the build there would not be an issues. I dropped a lifter at 500 miles, then put about 6,500 trouble free miles on it in the next 6 months.
