    • CVO1: Street Glide - 2020

Hi
In Canada there are some regulations that force Harley to add a taill light above the licence plate light.  So the quick answer is for HD to add their standard Taillight,.  UGH, I dont want to debate having more lights is better, I would like to know what options I have to tame the light, ie make it darker, lower profile or the best would be to remove it and just put small plugs on the fender. . unfortunately I started to do the last option and discovered the holes are squares about an inch on each side.  So thats really a bummer, . Attached is what I am dealing with for those that may have not seen the canadian version.  Any ideas, thoughts?

I also have a Canadian version (13 R/K), mine has amber signals. The US version looks so much better, but for me to change, it would have been close to $1000 Canadian. I would need red signal lights and a jumper harness. With you having red signals, you could probably buy a jumper wire, but you will still have the holes in your fender. I will be following to see if there is a smaller/cleaner center brake light to clean the look up.

Cheers
Paul

You could change to low profile black led .(after market)
Its not as easy  as a jumper wire I believe  even the ecm is diffrent

I have been looking tonight for one of those.  Its difficult to find one with out a licence plate light on the top or bottom, Mine requires NONE

Are you suspecting that the ECM might be tied into the rear taillight for something ABS?  I had not even considered that.

Look here….smoked lenses, regular and lay down without the license plate light:

Not cheap, but the lights are excellent…I have the regular  12 red LED tail light and it is super bright. Multiple patterns as well:

I have the BadAss red laydown version w/o plate light....wife has the Custom Dynamics smoked Probeam laydown w/o plate light.....we like both. When I bought my FLHXSE3 I looked into a new US fender from Harley...don't remember the exact price, but do remember it was cost prohibitive to change the fender.

Oh yeah.....welcome to the site from another Islander!

Thank you.
Ah the island life!!  This weekend is looking great.  Might do the loop today.

Thanks for the info, really appreciate it, I will look closer at both these lights, really wish I could find some sort of hole filler and just remove the dang thing, I agree trying for a new fender is way over the top.  Bob

Felix,

Keep in mind, license plates at least in Alberta are much larger than US plates. Keep that in mind maybe  Advanc can match BC Pate size. I'm looking for a pic of my custom (not legal in Alberta)

Its a nice consideration, thank you very much for the link. .  !

The biggest problem is they could not possibly match my CVO paint. . I really dont think so anyway, thats a function of HD where they keep this to themselves. . I am, going to call them to confirm.

Just checked, they can not match the paint at all.  This is the most important part.  Thanks for the link though its been informative.
